Minneapolis Radio DJ Stalker Arrested

A few days ago, Mary Lucia, a DJ with Minnesota Public Radio's KCMP/89.3 The Current, announced she is leaving the airwaves temporarily due to a stalker that's been following her at work and at home. KARE-TV is reporting that the alleged stalker has been arrested. Patrick Henry Kelly has been charged with felony stalking, after the suspect supposedly violated a an order of protection at least five times in a two month period. The charges state Kelly's unwanted advances on Lucia began in February 2014.

Minneapolis DJ Takes Leave Due To Stalker

Mary Lucia, a DJ with Minnesota Public Radio's KCMP/89.3 The Current, announced she is leaving the airwaves temporarily due to a stalker that's been following her at work and at home. Lucia posted an open letter on the station's website detailing the mental trauma she's endured. In the note, she said : "My life over the last year has involved a series of restraining orders, seemingly endless calls to 911, the installation of security cameras at home, and police photo ID line-ups. I've been constantly looking over my shoulder, dead-bolting doors, and jumping when someone rings my doorbell or my motion lights go off." The 21-year veteran of Twin Cities radio hopes to be back on the airwaves soon.

Dave Ryan Renews With KDWB Minneapolis

The announcement comes from KDWB in the Twin Cities where Dave Ryan has been heard in the morning for 20 years. It's a multi-year agreement with the entire "Dave Ryan in the Morning" show crew. Market Manager Michael Crusham said, "We are so excited that we have renewed the Dave Ryan Morning Show on KDWB. When you work with him every day, you understand why he has been so successful for the past 20 years in Minneapolis."

Ryan says, "We're just getting started! Seriously though, working at a legendary station like KDWB is an honor all by itself. I can't say enough about what a privilege it's been to be part of so many people's mornings for so long. From the people who hired me 20 years ago to the current management and staff at KDWB, I've worked with some of the very best people in the business."

PD Rich Davis said, "Dave Ryan is a 20-year Twin Cities institution and I?m so glad he will continue to anchor mornings for KDWB. He?s a true talent whose hard work, entertaining topics, and views on pop culture have kept him at the top of the ratings for so many years and make him a great talent for Clear Channel."

Criticism Building Against Minneapolis Host

Bob Davis (left) is one half of the "Davis and Emmer" show on Clear Channel's KTCN-AM in Minneapolis. Something he said about the Newtown families has caused at least one advertiser to cancel according to the Star-Tribune. President Obama has been traveling the country with the families pushing his gun control proposal and Davis does not agree with that approach and he said so on the air.

On April 12th, Davis said, I don?t care if it?s here in Minneapolis or anyplace else: Just because a bad thing happened to you doesn?t mean that you get to put a king in charge of my life. I?m sorry that you suffered a tragedy, but you know what? Deal with it, and don?t force me to lose my liberty, which is a greater tragedy than your loss."

The newspaper says Davis is being offered an all-expenses-paid trip to Newtown to repeat what he said on the air recently in front of the families. During his April 12th rant, Davis also said, ?I?m sick and tired of seeing these victims trotted out, given rides on Air Force One, hauled into the Senate well, and everyone is ? terrified of these victims. I would stand in front of them and tell them, ?Go to hell.???

Cumulus Flips To Sports In Minneapolis

The sports format just got a bit more crowded in theTwin Cities. The CBS Sports Network will now be heard on 105.1, 105.3, and 105.7. Cumulus is calling the station "Sports Radio105 The Ticket" and will carry the full network lineup from CBS Sports Radio, hoping to compete with Clear Channel's KFAN-FM and Hubbard's ESPN affiliate KSTP-AM, in that market.

Kenny Jay Named CBS APD in Minneapolis

Jay assumes the Assistant Program Director at KMNB (Country) in Minneapolis as of December 17th. Jay is moving to the Twin Cities from Savannah, GA, where he is PD of WUBB-FM (Bob).  Before that, he worked in Madison and Lacrosse.

Paul Koffy New AM Host at KMNB Minneapolis

I am excited to announce that Paul Koffy will be joining our on-air staff. He?s talented, award winning, and grew up in the shadow of the Twin Cities. His knowledge of our area and love for the music will be felt by the BUZ?N listeners every day." Koffy starts Tuesday, May 29. 

Koffy grew up in Osceola, Wisconsin. He was most recently on-air doing mornings at KPLX in Dallas. Along the way, he has had stops in Salt Lake City, Tampa, Atlanta, as well as voice tracking throughout the entire Southeast.  Among his many accomplishments, Koffy has been honored with a Country Music Association Award for Personality of the Year.
