Emmis Revenue Rises In Q1

Emmis Communications' net revenues were $60.3 million in its fiscal first quarter, up about 1 percent from $59.8 million in the same period a year ago. In an SEC filing, Emmis reports that radio revenue was up 2 percent, to $44.4 million, in Q1, with domestic radio revenues up 3.1 percent.

A study of female radio listeners by Alan Burns and Associates found that both the heaviest users of radio -- and women who say they're listening less lately -- would enjoy radio more if it had fewer commercials. Others cited "fewer obnoxious commercials," while 37 percent would like more info on songs and artists, and the same number would enjoy more new music.

Senator Weighs In On iPhone 4 Problem

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is calling on Apple to be "transparent" about resolving the widely reported reception problems with the company's iPhone 4. He says in a letter to Apple CEO Steve Jobs, "I ask that Apple provide iPhone 4 customers with a clearly written explanation of the cause of the reception problem and make a public commitment to remedy it free of charge." Apple is set to hold a press conference Friday to discuss the ongoing antenna flap.

Canadian radio and TV company Corus Entertainment is voluntarily delisting from the New York Stock Exchange, saying the costs of maintaining the listing outweigh the benefits to shareholders. The company has not arranged for another U.S. exchange.
