Former KHKX, Midland-Odessa Personality Mike Lawrence Dies.  Longtime KHKX morning drive personality Mike Lawrence – half of the "Mike and Dana Show" with spouse Dana Carole – died unexpectedly on Saturday (5/21) in New Mexico.  The husband-and-wife team of Lawrence and Carole worked together for 25 years and are to be enshrined in the Country Radio Hall of Fame on June 22.  They retired from the business in 2014.

San Diego's KSSX Becomes "Jam'n KSSX95.7." Formerly known as rhythmic hot AC "95.7 Kiss FM," iHeartMedia San Diego's KSSX transitioned to rhythmic CHR late Friday (5/27) and now utilizes "Jam'n 95.7 – Today's Hip Hop and R&B" as its handle. Senior vice president of programming for iHeartMedia Riverside Rob Scorpio is programming the station, which is airing non-stop, commercial-free music through the (Memorial Day) weekend. According to iHeartMedia San Diego-Riverside regional senior vice president of programming John Peake, "We are fortunate to have Rob's level of expertise leading 'Jam'n 95.7.' He has incredible passion for the format. We are excited about not only the music changes he has implemented, but also the amazing talent lineup he has assembled." Scorpio previously worked at KKBT "The Beat," Los Angeles; KBXX "The Box," Houston; and WPGC-FM, Washington, D.C. His on-air roster in San Diego features Pablo & Tati (morning drive); Mercedes "Cedes" Howard (mid-day); Frankie V (afternoon drive); and Beto Perez (night). Representative "Jam'n 95.7" artists include Beyonce, Chris Brown, J Cole, Drake, Fetty Wap, G-Eazy, Jeremih, Kid Ink, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, The Weeknd, Kanye West, and Yo Gotti.
