PPM Analysis: Urban AC. RadioInfo managing editor
Mike Kinosian presents the second of three format analyses of the performances of urban-based stations based on
Nielsen Audio's September 2016 PPM survey. Yesterday, we published the report on
urban contemporary, today the focus is on urban adult contemporary. In looking at how urban AC stations performed in the recent survey compared to the same period a year ago, Kinosian notes, "Eight stations on our panel better their September 2015 6+ numbers by at least one full share, compared to six that decline by at least one full share year-to-year. On the strength of a +1.9 (4.6 – 6.5, 6+, September 2015 – September 2016),
Radio One Indianapolis' WTLC-FM "Indy's R&B Leader" jumps from ninth to fourth. A year-to-year +1.5 to 8.5 (6+) meanwhile powers Baltimore sibling WWIN-FM "Magic 95.9" from fourth to first."
Entercom's WVKL, Norfolk;
iHeartMedia's KJMS, Memphis; and WVAZ, Chicago were the three other urban AC stations to rank #1 in their respective markets in September. See Kinosian's entire report
