Morgan Elected President At CRB

Sr. VP and Market Manager for Emmis Indianapolis Charlie Morgan has been elected President of the Country Radio Broadcasters. Morgan said, ?The Country Radio Seminar has played such a significant role in my own personal growth and success that it is a privilege and a bit humbling to have the chance to serve the organization. The leadership team, both board leadership and staff, is incredible and the Seminar will continue to be a catalyst for growth and learning for years to come.?
Additional appointments were announced, including officers:
-- R.J. Curtis (All Access Music Group) as Vice President
-- Carole Bowen (WKIS-FM) as Secretary
-- Jeff Walker (The AristoMedia Group) as Treasurer.
Seven newly elected members to the Board are: Chuck Aly (Country Aircheck), Beverlee Brannigan (Journal Broadcast Group), Jeff Kapugi (CBS Radio/Chicago), Jon Loba (BBR Music Group), Nick Martin (Curb Records), CRS 2014 Agenda Chair Annie Sandor (Curb Records), and Todd Schumacher (Summit Media Group).
Re-elected to the Board are: Becky Brenner (Albright & O'Malley & Brenner Consulting), Mike Dungan (UMG Nashville), Mike McVay (Cumulus Media), Charlie Morgan (Emmis Communications), Gary Overton (Sony Music Nashville), Joel Raab (Joel Raab Associates), Jennie Smythe (Girilla Marketing), and John Zarling (Big Machine Label Group).

Former WBZ Radio Traffic Reporter Joe Morgan Dies

WBZ is reporting that Morgan, who retired two years ago, died peacefully with his family around him. Morgan is survived by his four grandchildren and his wife of 44 years, Ellen. The station said Morgan had a long illness. He was 67.
According to the WBZ website, Morgan worked for more than 30 years in radio before he started reporting in the WBZ traffic helicopter in April 1997. He spent his entire career broadcasting in Boston, beginning in 1968 at WCOP as the Operations Director. Eight years later, he became the Public Affairs and Editorial Director, News Anchor and Reporter, and the News Director for WRKO. In 1989, he was named News Director for WHDH-Radio.

Cox's Marc Morgan to Retire

After 28 years Cox's Chief Revenue Officer Marc Morgan says he will retire on April 30th. "Marc has contributed immensely to Cox's success over the years through his leadership in radio and now with CMG,? said Doug Franklin, CMG president. ?We will miss his insights, experience and wish him well as he retires.  Additionally, Marc has indicated that he intends to take on some consulting projects including working with CMG.?  

For the past two years as chief revenue officer, Morgan has overseen the company?s focus on sales opportunities for its clients and sales training opportunities for all CMG businesses. Prior to his current position, Marc served as executive vice president and chief operating officer and as a director of Cox Radio, Inc.

?After a very rewarding 28-year career with Cox, it?s time for me to throttle back and focus exclusively on the things I?m most passionate about, which is helping people do better in their lives and careers.? Morgan added. ?CMG is an innovative industry leader with the best radio, television, newspapers, and direct marketing professionals in America. I know it will continue to shape the media industry, and I look forward to supporting their endeavors.?   

Morgan joined Cox in 1984 as vice president and general manager of WCKG-FM in Chicago, Ill. where he worked until 1992 when he was named vice president and general manager of WSB Radio in Atlanta, Ga. until 1998. From 1996 to 1997 he served as senior vice president of Cox Radio, Inc. and from 1997 to 1999 as senior group vice president. In 1999 he was named vice president and co-chief operating officer of Cox Radio, Inc. and in 2003 was named executive vice president and chief operating officer until 2009, when he began serving in his current role.

He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the National Association of Broadcasters Radio Board of Directors.  Before joining Cox he held various sales and sales management positions with ABC Radio in both Chicago and New York.

Morgan Joins Sussman on KSFO

Melanie Morgan will team with Brian Sussman in San Francisco at KSFO. For almost 15 years, Morgan was co-host of the Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan show in San Francisco and also served as a reporter for KGO-TV in San Francisco. She was fired back in 2008 by Citadel to save money.

Morgan is an award-winning radio talk show host, author, columnist, journalist, TV anchor, and reporter. Known for her advocacy on behalf of the American military and defense of the War on Terror, and a conservative perspective, she has been a frequent guest on many cable TV shows, including Fox News, CNN and the BBC.

She said ?I am unbelievably excited to return to the airwaves of KSFO and join the Brian Sussman show in progress. Brian and I  worked together as a team for many years. I want the Bay Area to know that I am thrilled to have a voice during this very emotional and powerful election cycle. So much is up in the air and the stakes are so high for our country. Brian and I are going to be layering new segments to our show to make sure that our audience can participate at every opportunity, through the airwaves, Facebook, and Twitter. It?s KSFO 2.0.  And we are going to laugh along the way. A lot.?
