Creamer To Replace Kerr At Arbitron

Arbitron has announced that CEO Bill Kerr will step down and be replaced by Sean Creamer as of January 1. Kerr will remain on the Arbitron board. Since August 2011, Creamer has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer of Arbitron and, since August 2012, as a member of the Board of Directors. Kerr is 71. Creamer is 48.

In June 2010, Arbitron named Creamer Executive Vice President, U.S. Media Services. Mr. Creamer joined Arbitron in September 2005 as Executive Vice President, Finance and Planning. In November 2005, he was named Chief Financial Officer and maintained that responsibility through March 2011 and, on an interim basis, from May 2012 through August 2012.

Kerr said, ?An important priority throughout my three-year tenure as Arbitron CEO has been to build a strong team of senior executives. In his time as Chief Operating Officer, as head of U.S Media Services and as CFO, Sean has consistently demonstrated he possesses the skills, temperament, and vision necessary to lead Arbitron.?

Astros to Replace Entire Radio Team

The Houston Astros announced the contracts of broadcasters Brett Dolan and Dave Raymond would not be renewed. Dolan and Raymond had been calling Astros games on radio since 2006. A search is also underway for a replacement for Milo Hamilton who had been the lead play-by-play announcer, calling games for the Astros since 1985. Hamilton announced 2012 would be his last season. Students Trying to Replace Barrett's LARadio.com

After 15 yers, Don Barrett recently decided to shut down his website LARadio.com, which started out as a way for him to promote his book and grew into a must-read site for everyone in radio in California, and elsewhere. A new Facebook page started by Tammy Trujillo (pictured), a professor of broadcasting at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, and one of her students, Alan Bailey trying to pick up where Barrett left off.

Trujillo told the Orange County Register "I have encouraged my students to look at the real world, and that in radio would be LARadio.com. When Don Barrett announced he was ending his site, I talked to one my students, Alan Bailey, and challenged him to start Southern California Radio People. A lot of broadcasters are not yet using it actively. The difference is we don't have Don spending 8, 9, 10 hours. We have to write it ourselves. It's not routine for me, but we're committed to promoting it as a go-to place for radio news."

The 22 year old Bailey told the paper, "It's a void not having LARadio.com. But a lot of my generation has Facebook pages. People need to understand it is a hellacious tool for marketing. Stations are starting to realize that you can get the service for free, you have a built-in audience, it saves the station money and helps build the online presence."
