New Leader For Cumulus Colorado Springs

Rob Quinn has been named as Vice President/Market Manager for the Cumulus Colorado Springs six-station cluster. Although his most recent job was outside radio, Quinn has 30 years' experience in sales management positions in Denver and San Diego. Quinn replaces Kent Hildebrand, who exited in March for a position outside of radio.

Cumulus SVP Dave Milner said: "Rob is a creative and dynamic leader with a solid track record of building strong, successful teams. We are excited to be adding Rob to our talented team in Colorado Springs." Quinn added: "Radio has always been my first love. When I was able to return to the industry with Cumulus I jumped at the chance. Leading six solid stations in a market like Colorado Springs is an exciting opportunity. The region is on a strong upswing and I look forward to helping provide solid solutions for our clients and advertisers."

Sports Replaces Spanish in Palm Springs

The Desert Radio Group is launching Fox Sports 1270 Wednesday at noon. The new Fox Sports programming replaces the Spanish oldies music which has been on the station in one form or the other for about 4 years. The new call letters will be KFSQ. PD Mike Oakes said, ?Fox Sports Radio programming originates in SoCal, and we are thrilled to bring it to the Desert, serving Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley. And I?m especially excited to launch two rising shows in the sports talk universe, Jay Mohr Sports and TMZ Sports.  These are the cutting edge of the sports talk genre.?

The new station lineup will be ?Fox Sports Day Break? in mornings from 6 to 9am, ?Jay Mohr Sports? from 9 am to noon, ?Fox Sports Prime Time? with Pat O?Brien and Steve Hartman from noon to 4 pm, ?TMZ Sports? from 4 to 5 pm, and ?The Petros and Money Show? or ?PMS? from 5 to 7 pm.

Tesh Adds Colorado Springs Affiliate

The voice of John Tesh will be heard daily in Colorado Springs, CO, when the John Tesh Radio Show joins the line-up at Cumulus? ?92.9FM The Peak? (KKPK/FM). Contractor Sues Hot Springs Radio Station

Local contractor Pete Chryss has filed a lawsuit against the station claiming ?salacious and sensational? radio segments that said Chryss was a wanted felon who collected child pornography. KNEWS-FM talk show host Lee Rayburn, General Manager Jay White and News Director John McMullen also face allegations of invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The news of the lawsuit were splashed all over the pages of the Desert Sun newspaper. The suit cites eight radio segments that date back to early October, when public outcry began over Chryss' contract work with Desert Hot Springs.

According to the paper, the Desert Hot Springs police c even called in to Rayburn's show to let the station know that Chryss does not have any warrants for his arrest. Chryss claims he's lost 90 percent of his business, and his children were ridiculed so much they stayed home from school ?during the worst of the smear campaign.

KNEWS is owned by Morris Communications. General Manager Jay White told the paper, "Desert Radio Group categorically denies that it has broadcast falsehoods about Mr. Chryssikos. Desert Radio Group expects to show to the court that it broadcast information that was in the public interest and protected by the free press provisions of the constitutions of the State of California and of the United States." White told the paper his company will respond to the lawsuit by January 9th.
