Hubbard Sells Western Wisconsin AM

8-9-2012

The announcement comes from the buyer, Zoe Communications, who has signed a letter of intent to purchase Hubbard Broadcasting's WIXK-AM in New Richmond. An LMA for the station agreement begins Monday. Zoe Communications also owns WDMO-FM in New Richmond, giving the company an AM/FM combo. The company says it will retain the full-time employees currently working at WIXK-AM.

Hubbard Radio Chair Ginny Morris said, ?For the past ten years Hubbard Broadcasting has enjoyed our relationship with our listeners and advertisers in Western Wisconsin.  But as we expand our radio footprint in major markets throughout the U.S. we felt it was the right time to pass along this wonderful New Richmond radio station to a broadcaster who is focused on Western Wisconsin. We have great employees at WIXK-AM who will continue to serve communities and clients in the St. Croix River Valley.?

?This is a big day for Zoe Communications,? said Mike Oberg, president and owner of Zoe Communications. ?We recently signed-on WDMO at 95.7FM so we believe this will be a great AM/FM combo for New Richmond and the St. Croix River Valley. We have great respect for the strong heritage of WIXK and are excited to bring a new FM back to New Richmond. It is a win-win for both companies. We are Wisconsin broadcasters and WIXK-AM strengthens our Western Wisconsin portfolio. At the same time Hubbard Broadcasting can focus on their core radio business, which is located in large markets.?
