2012 has been described as a decent year for deals in the radio industry. Thanks to Mark Fratrik and the team at BIA/Kelsey we now have a clear look back at the ten biggest deals of the year. And, although it didn't make the top ten, Larry Wilson made a nice little purchase in December (Triad for $21 million) and its Wilson's deal that had radio insiders whispering during the holiday season. At about 4X cash flow, many wonder if that's the new bar for radio or if that was just a master negotiation. Here's a look at the entire 2012 BIA/Kelsey list.
#1) April - $180 Million - YMF Media purchases 15 stations from Inner City Media.
#2) May - $115.75 Million - Townsquare buys 55 Cumulus stations
#3) April - $85.5 Million - Emmis license
#4) October - $75 Million - CBS buys one New York station from Merlin Media in New York
#5) April - $50 Million - Palm Beach Broadcasting purchases 5 from CBS in West Palm.
#6) December - $42.5 Million - Connoisseur Media buys 10 Nassau stations
#7) October - $40 Million - Cumulus gets one station from Media Family Stations.
#8) July - $40 Million - Tyler Media purchases 4 stations from Renda Broadcasting in Oklahoma.
#9) August - $30 Million - Clear Channel buys WOR New York from Buckley Broadcasting
#10) September - $25 Million - Midwest Communications purchases 6 from Radio Fargo-Moorhead
