Georgia Public Broadcasting names Bradley George senior anchor and correspondent where he will serve as the local host for Morning Edition. George comes to GPB from WPLN-FM in Nashville, where he?s been waking up Morning Edition listeners since 2011. Before joining WPLN, he served as afternoon news host and reporter at WBHM-FM, the public radio station based in Birmingham. He also served as executive producer of the station?s arts and culture program Tapestry and contributed stories to NPR.
The Tennessee Associated Press awarded George Best Radio Interview and Best Radio Newscast distinctions in 2014 and Best Political Coverage in 2013. In 2011, he was part of a team of reporters who won multiple awards for coverage of a massive tornado outbreak that killed more than 250 Alabamians. In addition, he was part of the WBHM team that produced a series called Gay/Straight in Alabama, about growing up gay in the Deep South. The series and the companion call-in program won multiple awards including Best Call-In Program from the Public Radio News Directors Inc. (PRNDI).
