Emmis' KGSR Donates $60K To Hospital

KGSR will be donating $60,000 in proceeds from KGSR?s Broadcast?s Volume 21 CD towards construction of the Seton Healthcare Family's new $295 million, 211-bed teaching hospital which will be named Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas. KGSR VP and Market Manager Scott Gillmore and KGSR Afternoon Drive Host Andy Langer will presented the check to Executive Director of the Seton Fund Charley Scarborough and Development Director of the Seton Fund Chris Attal. The donation completes a $100,000 commitment that Emmis Austin made.

KGSR?s Broadcasts Volume 21 was released on November 29, 2013, as a limited edition double disc including 36 songs recorded over the past year in the KGSR Music Lounge, backstage at the ACL Music Festival, The KGSR SXSW Broadcast, and various other live venues throughout Austin.

This latest compilation featured The Lumineers, Snow Patrol, Fitz & The Tantrums, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Atlas Genius, Bob Schneider, Gary Clark Jr., and more. The full track listing and complete Broadcasts CD history is available at kgsr.com. Proceeds from KGSR?s Broadcasts CD series have totaled over $2,500,000 in charitable donations to date.

Pamal Donates Station

Originally the station had planned to go dark, however, at the last minute, WGHQ-AM owner Pamal Broadcasting donated the station to WHDD owner Tri-State Public Communications. WHDD-FM operates out of Sharon, Conn as "Robin Hood Radio." The deal was signed yesterday. Pamal owner James Morrell changed his mind last week after Tri-State co-founder Marshall Miles, who worked for WGHQ in the 1970s, approached him with the idea of donating the station to Tri-State to keep it from going dark. Olberman Donates Big To His College Station

The Cornell University radio station WVBR-FM will soon be called the Olbermann-Corneliess Studios after the former MSNBC and ESPN star made a substantial donation. Keith Olbermann graduated from Cornell in 1979 where he was the sports director for the upstate New York college radio station. Olbermann purchased naming rights to the studio as part of a $935,000 capital campaign, of which $555,431 has been raised. The studio will be named in honor of Olbermann?s late father, Theodore Olbermann, and former program director Glenn Corneliess.

Rush Donates Big Money

For years Rush Limbaugh has been a huge supporter of the Marine Corps ? Law Enforcement Foundation. No doubt he has given to the organization more of his personal money than anyone will ever know. And by using his program to talk about the organization, countless others have made financial donations. Yesterday Rush announced his Tea company has donated more than $1 million to the organization in just over a year. 

Limbaugh thanked his listeners for their support in beating the original $100,000 goal 10-fold. ?We ran the numbers, and we are thrilled to announce that because of you, Two If By Tea has donated over $1 million in product and monetary donations to incredible causes, including the Marine Corps ? Law Enforcement Foundation.?

The Marine Corps ? Law Enforcement Foundation provides scholarships to the children of fallen marines and federal law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty abroad and at home. Cox Donates $75K To Sandy Relief Efforts

Cox Media Group is making a corporate donation of $75,000 to aid relief efforts in Southern Connecticut, Long Island, and surrounding areas of New York City. CMG?s contribution will be shared with charities identified as having some of the greatest need by Cox Reps New York, CMG Connecticut, and CMG Long Island radio stations. Cox has stations in Connecticut and on Long Island that were in the path of the storm.  

CMG President Doug Franklin said, ?As the Northeast continues healing and rebuilding after Superstorm Sandy, Cox Media Group and our local businesses want to support those organizations that are making a difference in the lives of those who have suffered great losses. Our employees in these communities exude great passion for the work they do for their communities every day. Many continued working through the storm to inform their audiences, and others now are giving of their time to help their communities rebound from this disaster.?

Earlier this week, CMG?s parent company Cox Enterprises, in partnership with The James M. Cox Foundation, announced a combined cash donation of $100,000 to the American Red Cross to assist the relief and recovery efforts of the communities affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Cox Reps New York is partnering with Habitat for Humanity to support its relief efforts in Connecticut, Long Island, New Jersey/New Jersey Shore, The Rockaways, and Staten Island. ?Cox Reps is honored to provide support to Habitat for Humanity, which is working on the frontlines of this disaster where many of our Cox Reps employees and our buying communities? families and friends reside,? said Cox Reps President Jim Monahan. 

In Norwalk, Conn., CMG Connecticut  ?  WEZN, WPLR, and WFOX  ?  will partner with Family & Children?s Agency, which has served Fairfield County and beyond for more than 70 years. Each year, the agency serves over 10,000 children and families, youth, adults, and seniors. ?We want to help Family & Children?s Agency rebuild fully and quickly after Sandy,? said CMG Connecticut General Manager Kristin Okesson. ?Our donation will support a relief fund that will help them recoup the losses due to the storm and will directly benefit the programs that have been disrupted and which are vital to many people in Fairfield County.? 

Long Island?s WBAB and WBLI will lend support to Island Harvest, Long Island?s largest hunger relief organization. For over two decades, Island Harvest has provided feeding services to those in need through their network of over 570 food pantries, soup kitchens, and other non-profit organizations. ?On behalf of Cox Media Group and our Long Island staff, it is truly an honor to provide Island Harvest with this financial support during one of the most critical times in Long Island history,? said CMG Long Island General Manager John Shea. ?This donation reflects our belief in the mission of Island Harvest and their dedication to the Long Island community.?

SportsRadio 94WIP Donates $5K to Vick Foundation

CBS Radio Philadelphia?s WIP-FM has presented a $5000 donation to Michael Vick and his Team Vick Foundation. The Team Vick Foundation led by Eagles QB Michael Vick is about second chances. Team Vick Foundation recently donated  $200,000 to the Hunting Park neighborhood to restore the football field for the North Philly Aztecs football team and a second chance for Hunting Park to be the centerpiece of the community.
Vick said, ?The city of Philadelphia embraced me, welcomed me here when the Eagles signed me ? giving me a second chance to play the game that I love. We at Team Vick Foundation are thankful to CBS Radio for supporting our work in the community and look forward to lasting partnership." SportsRadio 94WIP is the flagship radio station for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Clear Channel Donates Airtime to 9/11 Nonprofit

Clear Channel Communities, the community engagement division of Clear Channel, and MyGoodDeed, the 9/11 nonprofit which annually organizes the federally-recognized 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance announced they will team up to again observe the anniversary of 9/11. Clear Channel will participate with millions of dollars in donated media including radio air time, digital billboard placement and employee engagement.

Beginning on August 20, and running through September 11, 2012, Clear Channel will air tens of thousands of on-air public service messages across its 850 radio stations nationwide and through the iHeartRadio digital radio platform.  People can choose to volunteer, donate to charities of their choice, or simply dedicate time on 9/11, or another day, doing something good for others. Additionally, the ?I Will? campaign will appear on a series of Clear Channel Outdoor Americas digital billboards across the U.S. from now through September 11, and will highlight the diversity of tributes.

The HOT 97 Hip-Hop Has Heart Foundation has gone on another giving spree donating hundreds of toys to three local organizations; Harlem Hospital, Emergency Rights and Area 145 Daycare.  For their 5th consecutive year, HOT 97?s Hip-Hop Has Heart Foundation join hand-in-hand with its celebrity DJ?s to give children a reason to look forward to the season.

HOT 97?s Angie Martinez and L Boogs, dropped off the toys to Harlem Hospital?s Children?s Christmas Celebration.  HOT 97?s DJ C-Lo will took to the streets handing out toys in the Bronx for Emergency Rights? 9th Annual Toy Drive.  And, HOT 97?s Peter Rosenberg and J Medina made the final stop at Area 145 Daycare in Harlem?s Annual Holiday Party.
