Colorado Cumulus Cluster Prepares Families For Winter

Six Colorado Cumulus stations (KATC-FM, KCSF-AM, KKFM-FM, KKMG-FM, KKPK-FM and KVOR-AM) teamed up with community leaders for ?Operation Warm-up?.  The five-hour event enabled listeners to help provide new and gently used coats, gloves, scarves, and hats for neighbors in need. Morning shows broadcast live from the parking lot of the new Freedom Financial Expo Center, as hundreds of listeners drove in contributing thousands of items including coats, hats, gloves, mittens, boots and much needed winter garments.

The items, as well as cash donations are being used to support a Department of Human Services distribution event in December. Cumulus Broadcasting Community Officer Gina Kavali said, ?More than 10% of our community is on some sort of living assistance provided by the DHS, it just made sense to act and take care of our neighbors right here, right now.  We were honored and humbled when we saw the outpouring of generosity from our listeners throughout Southern Colorado.?

Entercom Launches Campaign to Support Navy SEAL Families

Entercom is partnering with the Navy SEAL Foundation to help the families who lost loved ones in Afghanistan. A companywide campaign across 23 markets and 111 stations has been started with a goal of helping the families of the SEALS who die in combat. SEAL Team Six is the elite of the elite when it comes to our military. They were the team the killed UBL, public enemy #1.

Entercom CEO David Field said "This devastating tragedy has touched us all. These Navy SEALs are our finest and bravest soldiers and they have paid the ultimate price to protect this great nation and all of its citizens. Their children are now fatherless and their wives are now widows. It is our duty to do all we can to help their families at this time of great need."

Local stations FM100 (WMCFM), WRVR 104.5 The River, 92.9FM ESPN/ 680AM ESPN, Classic Hits 94.1 WKQK and WMC 79 are promoting this fundraiser encouraging listeners to donate $10 at www.mymemphisperks.com or through station websites. The Navy SEAL Foundation provides support in times of adversity and achievement to U.S. Navy SEALs. The Navy SEAL Foundation helps the community by: Providing tragedy assistance for families who have lost a loved one in training or combat. Supporting family events to boost morale and encourage camaraderie. Awarding scholarships and providing educational assistance to active duty personnel, their spouses and children.

On Saturday, August 6, thirty American service members ? most of them elite Navy SEALs, including several members of SEAL Team Six, the unit that killed Osama bin Laden ? lost their life in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. It was the largest single loss of U.S. life since the beginning of the 2001 Afghan War, and is the largest single loss ever suffered by the SEAL community.

Homeless Zimmer Radio Families Can Use Our Help

The latest report we have from Zimmer Radio CEO James Zimmer is that the 7 people he employs who lost homes to a tornado have been accommodated for the next two weeks. Several staff members will be living out of an RV that was donated, by the way, by Clear Channel in Springfield, Missouri. We asked Zimmer if there was anything the rest of the industry can do to help his team out, and there is. Our hats are off to Zimmer's Joplin, Missouri team as they continue to serve their community. Some are doing it without a home to return to.

Here is the message from Zimmer: "If any of our fellow brethren want to donate specifically to our "homeless" staff members they can send donations to our stations in Joplin. Thank you, and I will keep you posted with any new developments."
