Murphy and Richards Start Internet Show

B.J. Murphy and Keith Richards were a popular morning team team in the Charlotte market back in the 1990's. They were known as The ?Breakfast Brothas? on WPEG (Power 98) in Charlotte. As many an air talent discovers, things change in the radio business, and nothing lasts forever. The Charlotte Observer says, "With traditional radio now attracting fewer listeners, FM stations that once employed local talent now rely more heavily on cheaper, syndicated content. And for DJs like Murphy and Richards, that has spelled career change. They hope their digital audience grows to 40,000 which is where they say they will start making money. Big Dan Murphy Passes

Blue Sky Broadcasting in Spokane shared the sad news that K102 Country radio vet ?Big Dan Murphy? died from a sudden heart attack. He was 57. Dan McMahon was a long-time radio announcer in the Pacific Northwest area, from his early days in Walla Walla, WA where he was known at Wee Willie Winkle and in the Tri-Cities as Dancin? Dan Murphy. His public memorial service will be held this Saturday in Spokane.

Murphy Posts Scar From Surgery

Shannon Murphy (Psycho Shanon) from the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning Radio show is out of the hospital recovering from her recent brain surgery. n Murphy had the surgery to remove a non-cancerous brain tumor. Keeping listeners up to date on her road to recovery, Murphy has posted this picture of her scar from the surgery on her Facebook page.

Murphy Departs CBS Radio/Riverside

May 19, 2011: CBS Radio/Riverside SVP/Market Manager Kevin Murphy exits his post overseeing five stations. He's reportedly heading back to Detroit to take a job outside the radio industry.

Murphy arrived in Riverside in 2008, coming in from the same post for CBS Radio's Detroit cluster. No word yet on his replacement in Riverside.
