Bev Smith Says She Being Pushed Off The Air

AURN says the economy is the reason, Smith tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that's not true. Smith tells the paper that she isn't leaving because of rumored health reasons or on her own accord. Smith says it had to do with age, gender and race. "I see it as about being a certain age and gender. If you've ever listened to me, you'll know I'm not afraid to tackle the truth. Is this something about black women's voices? Because there are no other black women nationally doing what I'm doing."

AURN Operations and Afilliations President Jerry Lopes says the decision to stop distribution of "The Bev Smith Show" was one of "several expense reductions made in response to declining ad revenues and a sputtering economy." According to numbers supplied to the paper by Lopes, 88 percent of  Smith's audience on New York's WWRL-AM is over 55, and 53 percent is over 65. At WVON-AM in Chicago, 86 percent of her audience is over 65 and at WAOK-AM in Atlanta, 62 percent are over 65.

Bev Smith is the only nationally syndicated black female talk show host. Her final show will be October 28th. She's heard on 30 stations.

by Jason Lipshutz, N.Y.  |   June 02, 2011 2:15 EDT

Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" release date has been pushed back again, a source confirms to Billboard.com. The highly anticipated set will now hit stores on Aug. 29, over two months after its last announced release date of June 21.

"Tha Carter IV's" arrival has been rescheduled multiple times: Lil Wayne eyed a spring release at the beginning of the year, and in March, he announced that "Tha Carter IV" drop on May 16. Three singles have already been released from the set, with the last one, the slow jam "How To Love,"  hitting the web last Thursday. The track debuts at No. 60 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs this week, while previous singles "6 Foot 7 Foot" and "John" peaked at Nos. 2 and 19, respectively.
