WNEW-AM Flipping To Gov.Biz Radio On October 1

Market Manager Steve Swenson says CBS Radio will re-launch WNEW-AM 1580 with programming focused on government and business. The new format will feature a wide variety of programming from local sources and news organizations like ?The Hill,? plus financial news from Bloomberg Business and The Wall Street Journal. 

Robert Sanchez will serve as the program director for WNEW-AM as well as retain his duties as the program director of ALL NEWS 99.1 WNEW-FM. ?Politics may be what everyone talks about in Washington, D.C., but the federal government is the primary industry employing more than a quarter of the local population,? said Sanchez. ?We feel strongly about providing programming that serves this important audience with updated information about our government and how it intersects with business.  There?s no better place for this station to be than in the backyard of the nation?s capital.?

Here is a look at the new October 1 lineup:
5:00am - Bloomberg?s First Word with Ken Prewitt
Breaking economic, business, and market news from around the globe, and a preview of the day ahead on Wall Street.
7:00am - The Daily Briefing, hosted by veteran WNEW news anchor Nancy Lyons.
This locally produced news program focuses on the government sector and how new legislation, policies, regulations, and lobbying efforts impact business in the world?s most powerful company town. 
10:00am - On the Economy with Carol Massar and Michael McKee.  
High-profile guest interviews and an in-depth look at the economy and what is affecting it each day.
12:00pm - The Capitol Hill Report with WNEW anchor Nancy Lyons.
1580 Gov.Biz Radio partners with The Hill to cover the hot news topics of the day on Capitol Hill.
12:30pm -  The Hays Advantage with Kathleen Hays
