eMarketer just came out with a report that says ad spending in the United States will see its largest increase since 2004 -- and the main reason is mobile. Total ad spending is projected to hit $180.12 billion in 2014, an increase of 5.3 percent over 2013. Of that $180.12 billion total, television will see the lion's share with 38.1 percent which is down from 2013's 38.8 percent. Digital will grow from 25.5 percent in 2013 to 28.2 percent in 2014, and in the digital category, mobile advertising is projected to jump from 5.7 percent last year to just under 10 percent in 2014. Radio, excluding digital and off-air, will decline from 8.9 percent to 8.6 percent, according to eMarketer.
