SoundExchange paid out $161 million to performing artists and rights holders in Q2, according to Billboard Magazine. That's a jump of 8% over Q2 of 2013. The number of artists and rights holders receiving a piece of that cash increased 34% to 22,343. In 2013, total royalties paid out were $590.4 million. To date in 2014, $323.6 million has been paid out so SoundExchange is on a good pace to beat the 2013 payout numbers by quite a bit.
