Sports talker KIDD 630 AM is off the air in Monterey, California, reports the Monterey Herald. Parent company Buckley Communications reportedly decided to shut the station down for financial reasons.
The KIDD towers, located on coastal wetland, are considered a nonconforming use. It's also come to light that the tower lights, which are in the flight path for the Marina Municipal Airport, needed replacement. According to city officials, tower workers would not consider the job to replace the lights due to safety issues. Marina city officials said the city recently received a permit from Buckley Communications to demolish the towers.
