Kraddick Spoke About Death On His Show

It was a comedy bit at the time. Kraddick did a segment last week on what he would say to each member of the show in his final moments on earth. He said, "Have you ever thought about those last moments of your life? Nobody wants a long, lingering illness; nobody wants just that; but it would be nice if you could have a day or two where you know it's coming." He then said goodbye to his on-air staff. "I want to thank all of you guys for being at my deathbed today. I'm going to miss you so much."

Bubba Trial Focuses on Death Threats

Former Clear Channel General Manager Dan DiLoreto took the stand Thursday in the Bubba The Love Sponge defamation lawsuit filed by Todd Schnitt. Tapes of previous Bubba shows were played where Bubba said Schnitt rigged a national contest and that  "I will not be happy until I have an MJ funeral in the streets in Tampa, Fla." There were also a lot of references to "Bubba's Army," as lawyers clearly tried to paint the group of Bubba listeners as a violent bunch.

DiLoreto told the court when the two jocks were working together at the same station they were told not

to talk about each other on the air, because they were feuding so much, and there were times they were called into his office to discuss their issues. Bubba was eventually hired by another station where the two became morning show rivals. In other Bubba clips played yesterday Bubba was heard saying, "We seek and destroy," and "MJ, that's the only person I really want to die, seriously." When Bubba's attorney asked DiLoreto if he thought Schnitt was at all financially damaged by the "Radio Wars," he answered no. DiLoreto testified that, in his opinion, comments made by Bubba on his radio program went beyond theatre of the mind.

There were many sidebars between lawyers and the judge yesterday which left the two former morning show rivals at their respective tables alone. In addition, when the website WTSP.com airs the trial live, many Bubba fans have been tweeting in a live chat box. The tweets, at times, have been extremely amusing.

Results Radio Reports Death Jose Ochoa

The 35-year-old Ochoa died of an apparent heart attack. The station website says, "The Power Family lost one of our own, DJ Jose Ochoa. He is survived by his wife Monica, their infant son, and his three stepchildren whom he loved and raised as his own. Jose was an inspiration to us all. He was kind to everyone he came in contact with, never had a bad thing to say about anyone, and always had a smile on his face."

Arrest Could Be Soon in Death of April Kauffman

Kauffman was 47 when she was found dead at her home from gushot wounds. She hosted a talk show on WOND-AM and was ell known in her community for helping veterans. Atlantic County Prosecutor Theodore Housel suggested Friday that an arrest was likely, though he didn't say how soon or provide any information about a possible suspect. "We have sufficient information to conduct an ongoing investigation that we believe will ultimately be successful," he said. Authorities do not believe the killing had nothing to do with her work on the radio.

Cause of Death Still Unknown in Tower Death

The dangerous work of tower climbing was put in the spotlight this week when 61 year old Nick Rouskey of Cape Coral Florida died while changing light bulbs near the top of an 800 foot tower. His death is still being investigated and now rescuers are discussing how difficult it is transporting a body in such a situation. Bonita Springs Florida Firefighter Greg Dewitt and five others made up the team involved in bringing Rouskey's body down 700 feet. Rouskey told ABC-TV in Fort Myers "It's nerve-racking, but you've got a job to do. Firefighter Chris martin told the station "I know if it was my family member I would want someone to do the best job they could of getting him down."
With the tower swaying, firefighters carefully untangled Rouskey's harness and started lowering him to the ground. It took four hours to bring Rouskey's body to the ground. Rouskey's grandson watched as rescuers worked to bring his body down. Official cause of death will not be known until the autopsy results are released.

Another Tower Death. This One in Boston

The radio and TV tower is located on Chestnut Street in Newton, near Interstate 95 and its reported the man fell 500 feet to his death. American Tower issued a statement saying it is "deeply saddened" by the man's death and has suspended work at the site pending a full review. The company said it is cooperating with authorities investigating the accident. The man was part of a subcontractor's crew placing a new antenna pole and safety ladder. He said he did not know how high the man was working when he fell at about 1 p.m.
