Entercom's Fitz Gets Deal With Sun Broadcast

Sun Broadcast Group has entered into a multi-year syndication and sales partnership with Entercom Seattle morning man Fitz. The deal includes the Powered by Country weekend countdown (which will be renamed The Hit List) when it moves from United Stations Radio Networks to Sun in 2015. Fitz will also take over hosting duties of Nashville Minute, a daily news and entertainment feature now heard on over 80 affiliates. The feature will be expanded to two daily reports with Fitz?s first broadcast airing next Monday. And Sun will be syndicating Fitz?s morning show from 100.7 The Wolf in Seattle. The Fitz Show will be offered daily from coast to coast as a modular show for airing in multiple dayparts to Country, CHR, and Hot AC affiliates.

Entercom's WNTR Ups Daniels To PD

Chase Daniels is the newly named program director for Entercom's Hot AC WNTR in Indianapolis. He moves up from APD/MD, a post he's held since the station flipped to 107.9 The Mix in May. Entercom/Indy OM JR Ammons said Chase has been "an integral part" of The Mix's success since its debut.

Ammons said, "Entercom is a company that believes in 'earning your stripes,' and Chase has earned his. He has the knowledge base, the drive, and the talent necessary to be a great leader for The Mix."

Entercom's Fitz Wins "Best Local Personality"

Entercom Seattle?s 100.7 The Wolf (KKWF) "Fitz In The Morning" host Fitz has been named ?Best Local Radio Personality? by KING-TV?s Evening Magazine ?Best of Western Washington? competition. The online contest is decided by popular vote and 2012 marks the 5th consecutive year that Fitz has grabbed the top spot in the poll.

Entercom's KOSI-FM Denver Fills Out Air Staff

Entercom Denver PD Mark Callahan tells Radio Ink  he has two new staffers. Shannon Stone joins KOSI-FM for middays and becomes Music Director.  Most recently Stone was PD and an on-air talent for the Dial Global Country format. Prior to Dial Global she was on the air and programmed Country KKCS in Colorado Springs. And, Kevin Mussman joins the station to host afternoon drive and as Digital Content Editor. Mussman had been on the air in Fort Collins for 14 years

Entercom's Greg Hill Oozes Passion

At an early age Greg Hill knew he wanted to be on the radio. Growing up he was a big fan of John Garabedian. Hill took a chance and sent Garabedian a letter and asked him if he needed an intern. There were no openings at the time, however, Garabedian needed some work done at his house and Hill knew that was his foot in the door. Hill took advantage of the break he was given, right out of high school he landed a radio job in Boston. Working his way up the ladder, Hill eventually made it to WAAF with a company he loves. This week he signed on for another 5 years as morning man for the Entercom rocker. He's been doing mornings for 23 years now. We spoke to Hill yesterday about his big break, what he would say to someone today if he received the same letter he wrote to Garabedian and why Entercom is the perfect fit for him.

Kudos to Entercom's KEZW in Colorado

Thanks to KEZW-AM in Denver and with the help of listeners, veterans and the local community the station hit its goal and raised $400,000 for the Colorado Freedom Memorial Foundation that was needed to break ground and to complete the project. The City of Aurora donated the land for the Memorial as part of Springhill Park, directly north of Buckley Air Force Base. For the entire month of May KEZW honored fallen soldiers during Freedom Month and raised awareness for the Colorado Freedom Memorial which once built will be a glass wall, etched with more than 6,000 Colorado veteran names.

KEZW PD Rick Crandall said, "This was the realization of 12-years of dreaming, planning, praying and never letting go of the idea a Memorial to Colorado?s fallen veterans was a good thing.  It?s been great seeing how many people are excited about this dream becoming a reality and I most happy for the families of the fallen who will now have a place to go and see our gratitude for their sacrifice.?

The veteran?s etched on the wall will include all Colorado veterans who have been killed in action including 102 in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Once complete the Memorial will give a place to remember and pay respect to those service men and women who gave their lives.

Entercom's KFOX in S.F. Names Garner Goin PD

Goin has 18 years music programming experience in the Denver market, most notably programming Classic Rock 103.5 The Fox in Denver for 15 years, and most recently as Digital Program Director for Clear Channel?s Denver cluster of 8 radio stations, responsible for streaming content and social media. Goin also worked for local concert promoter in Denver.

Goin said, ?I?m going to build on the foundation that Dwight Walker, Greg Kihn, and the rest of the amazing KFOX staff have created. KFOX is the Bay Area?s strongest rock station with the largest market signal, and largest rock audience. I intend to take KFOX?s mainstream music to a modern audience using the latest social platforms. I am grateful for this opportunity and excited to help grow a unique station in an amazing market."

Personnel Changes At Entercom's Seattle Cluster.

Dave Benson is out as Program Director after two years at the post. Both sides say the decision to part ways was mutual. ?Dave has been a tremendous asset to The Mountain and Entercom Seattle, and it?s been a true pleasure working with him,? said Dave Richards, Entercom/Seattle VP of Programming and Operations.  Benson said ?I feel fortunate to have had this time working with Entercom Seattle. My respect and affection for the Mountain staff is enormous, and I wish them all the best in the future." KNDD Program Director Mike Kaplan steps in and adds the KMTT duties. The format at KMTT is AAA. KNDD is Alternative.
