Genesis Reacts To Lewis Quitting Show

8-4-14

Jason Lewis was syndicated by Genesis Communications Network until last Thursday when he shocked listeners with this announcement, "This is not freedom, this is tyranny. We, I, you, face a choice, to fund the beast, or to starve the beast, to host the parasite, or walk away. To feed the system, or to boycott the system. I have now chosen the latter, they can now feed off one another. Ladies and gentlemen, I QUIT.? Today, GCN PD John Haarmann sent a statement to Radio Ink acknowledging the company was aware Lewis planned to retire, however they did not know he would do in in such a dramatic way.

Haarmann said, "I've always highly respected Mr. Lewis and his activism. Jason's voice has reached millions and he will no doubt continue to affect change through his next endeavor with GALT. Jason Lewis might be leaving radio, but I feel his work has just begun." Lewis's producer, James Graham, added, ?(the) program was exciting, emotional, and somewhat confusing to say the least. Jason had hinted that he wanted to get out of the radio industry from time-to-time, but I never thought he would do so in such a shocking manner. We here at GCN were very fortunate in the fact that, Dan Conry, a longtime friend and regular guest host of the program, was able to be reached at such short notice to fill in.?

Bob Grant Says He's Quitting To Get Attention

10-8-2012

83-year-old Bob Grant does a one-hour Sunday show on WABC. He wrote a column that indicated yesterday would be his last show. On his website, in a follow-up post he wrote, "It was a mistake. It was not my last show. I wanted to get your attention since last week so many of you didn?t know I was only on one hour. I got your attention but I upset a lot of people. I have had a lot of practice upsetting people. But, enough about me and that erroneous message."

The New York Daily News ran a story that said, "Conservative radio pioneer Bob Grant is hanging up his microphone ? again. And then changed his mind hours later, saying he would stick around for 'the foreseeable future,' a source close to the 83-year-old told the News. "I am not sick, I am just a tired of [being a] life member of the chorus," he posted on his website. Grant, who worked WABC three times between 1984 and 2012, added, ?I will miss you as much as you say you miss me.?

Nick Cannon Quitting Radio Show

2-18-2012

Cannon says he's leaving his morning show on WXRK-FM in New York due to his recent health issues. The 31 year old was hospitalized in January for mild kidney failure and underwent surgery. He was admitted to the hospital last week for two blood clots in his lung. A statement from Cannon said ?Under doctor?s orders, I have been asked to make my health first and cut back on some of my professional commitments." Cannon has been the AM drive host since January 2010.

Don Bouloukos, SVP/Market Manager of CBS RADIO New York said, "We have nothing but respect and understanding for Nick?s decision to step down from his day to day position as host of morning drive on 92.3 NOW, and fully support him as he takes on a less demanding role with the station in order to address his health. Everyone at the station and all of the CBS RADIO family wish him well, and look forward to his continuing contributions to 92.3 NOW".

Eskin Quitting WIP Philly After 25 Years.

Philly.com is reporting that CBS owned WIP sports-talker Howard Eskin is leaving his afternoon drive show September 2nd. Eskin made the announcement midway through Monday's show stating the decision was his and had nothing to do with increased competition from sports-talk station, 97.5 The Fanatic, which broadcasts on AM and FM. That portrayal of events was confirmed by WIP Program Director Andy Bloom who also said no replacement is set to be announced.
