Michael Savage's new book, called Stop The Coming Civil War, doesn't go on sale until October 7 and it is already number one at Barnes and Noble. That took all of 24 hours. The Westood One talker tells Radio Ink, "The people are agitated and frightened by this lawless bunch."

Michael Savage was invited to the Oxford Union to participate in a debate on whether or not NSA leaker Edward Snowden should be considered a hero. Savage had to remind Oxford Union?s Charles Vaughn that he's banned from the country. In 2009, Savage was banned by Prime Minister Gordon Brown?s government. In his reply to Vaughan, Savage said: ?If you can convince your government to correct this miscarriage of justice and they will allow me to enter England, perhaps I could arrange to debate before your prestigious organization.?
In 2009, as WND reported, the Cambridge Union canceled Savage?s scheduled participation in a debate via video link just one week before the event. The organizers, who had asked him to debate on the theme of political correctness, claimed they had to cancel because of ?numerous legal issues? ? which they didn?t name ? along with technical and financial problems.

Michael Savage received a pre-game pep talk from the boss Thursday afternoon that wowed him so much he wanted a copy of it to play on his show. Cumulus co-COO John Dickey heaped praise on the veteran broadcaster as the company introduced the talker to PD's all over the country in anticipation of his January 1 move to afternoon drive. Cumulus picked up Savage after he left TRN and is moving him from his 9PM live slot to 3PM on many Cumulus stations. The Savage move comes on the heels of Cumulus and Sean Hannity parting ways. Dickey said, "I think he is going to do a wonderful job and ultimately deliver numbers, and that's what it's all about. I'm thrilled to be in business with Michael." Here's more from Dickey
The Savage Nation will air on more than 200 affiliates of Cumulus Media Networks, including 60 stations owned and operated by Cumulus. Some of the cities where include: New York (WABC), Chicago (WLS), Dallas (WBAP), Washington(WMAL), San Francisco (KSFO) and WJR (Detroit). Dickey said, "We believe having Michael on some of our biggest stations is really going to be impactful. Talk radio has gone through a lot of ups and downs in the last couple of years. Ultimately what I think is going to lead the way out of some of those low points is more compelling content. When you think about compelling content the things that come to mind tends to be people that are extremely smart, curious, intellectually adventurous and people that are not afraid to take risks. Not afraid to look at a lot of things that are wrong with our country and society and are able to relate that and tell it in ways that are humorous, insightful, direct and thought provoking. That's a very hard set of criteria, to be able to find someone to be able to carry off in today's day and in today's day and age it's been very hard set of criteria to to get talk show hosts to live up live up to since Rush heralded his show back in the 80's. Michael Savage has come into this business lined up wonderfully with all of those criteria."
Dickey continued with his praise for Savage, calling him an extremely well-read and smart person. "As we all know there is a fine line between intellectual genius and craziness and Michael walks that line wonderfully. He was of the most thought provoking people that I have ever met. He's a great storyteller. In talk radio we are in the business of theater of the mind, getting people to spend more time with us by telling compelling stories and challenging people. Michael understands that as well as anybody. Dr. Savage brings an amazing intellect, an amazing curiosity, a passion, an ability to tell stories, an unending curiosity to explore and challenge his listeners to join him on that journey. I own one of the many stations that lost Savage in his battle with TRN. While I'm selfishly sad for us... I'm very happy for Michael's success! He's one of the best (along with Thayrone and Beck)...after a year of struggle...he deserves his new timeslot and will surely rise to the top! Congratulations Michael and Mrs. S~ all the best from your pals at WAAM Radio in Ann Arbor!

Fantastic. I cannot wait for Michael to switch over in January. I just hope that he can continue along as he always has, and will not be told what he can and can't do/say on air. What makes him so entertaining is how he runs his show - HIS OWN WAY.

It might be a win-win for Cumulus and Savage, but does not offer much to the listeners in all of those markets.

With the contract between Sean Hannity and Cumulus expiring at the end of 2013, Michael Savage announced on his show last night he would be taking over the afternoon drive slot for Cumulus Media Networks starting in January. The move was expected after the break between Hannity and Cumulus and after Savage leaked he would be taking the slot back in August when it was clear Cumulus was only going to sign Rush Limbaugh. Savage says he expects to have five to six times as many listeners. Hannity is expected to be picked up by other stations in nearly all the markets in which he is now heard on Cumulus stations. Then in January, the real story will be which of the two wins in the ratings, Hannity or Savage.

Mediaite reported that Savage said on his show Thursday he would replace Sean Hannity on stations Hannity is being carried by Cumulus. Cumulus Media Networks syndicates Savage. ?I predict, right here, right now, that I Michael Savage and the Savage Nation is going to take over The Sean Hannity Show time slot by the end of the year. He?s probably a nice guy, but his time is come and his time has gone. I am the heir apparent to afternoon drive on the east coast and around America on Cumulus stations, which have the most powerful stations in the radio world.?

The Michael Savage team told Radio Ink last night "The Savage Nation" is returning to WABC in New York on December 3. Savage will be heard from 9PM to 11PM. The John Batchelor show currently runs from 9PM to midnight on WABC. Savage says, "Returning to my hometown of New York City is a big milestone in my radio career. When I was on WABC (before WOR) I actually beat the Yankees in some books."
Savage also returns to Washington and will air on WMAL. He says, "On WMAL, I will use this gift to act as a watchdog not a lapdog." Savage is now heard on over 150 Cumulus affiliates.

The Cumulus plan to offer politically middle-of-the-road talkers as part of its network was pretty much blown up this week when the news that Michael Savage would be syndicated by Cumulus Media Networks became official. It'll be hard for Cumulus to be very critical of Rush now and use that as a strategy to push Mike Huckabee as a Rush alternative now that Savage is on the Cumulus team. Savage is a success, no doubt, but very few people would characterize him as moderate.
It was just a few short months ago, that Cumulus Co-COO John Dickey told Radio Ink that listeners were fatigued with talk show hosts that were hard left or hard right, and Mike Huckabee was coming along at the right time. "I think what's happened in our format in talk and in news talk, is there hasn't been enough of a balance from a delivery perspective. It's not so much a balance left and right. It is just a balance of how a product is delivered and presented. I think the Governor is going to change that. He's going to open up the discourse to a wider group of people, by virtue of the fact that he's not going to intimidate and shout at people. That's our perspective on what needs to be offered up here."
This week, Dickey said, ?As we aggressively create radio?s most compelling mix of show hosts, the addition of Michael Savage is a milestone in our determined efforts to provide our listeners nationwide with the best programing in the business."
Hey, perspectives change, when you have a chance to bring in a big star. The Savage Nation draws about eight million weekly listeners. The show has often been called the third-most listened to show in America, behind Rush and Hannity. Savage gives Cumulus a radio rock star while newcomers Huckabee and Geraldo get their sea legs and build audiences. Perhaps he's a hedge if one or both don't work out.
Savage is an entertaining conservative for sure and a quick glance at his website will show he is no fan of the current President. If you've listened to his program, it's doubtful you would classify him in the same mold as Huckabee or Geraldo. The Savage signing is proof that business is business and, when need be, business models can change.

Michael Savage is hinting he will return to radio within the next two weeks and has told a San Francisco newspaper he has to return before the presidential debates are over.On his website savage wrote, "while I cannot divulge my decision at this time, I can say I hope to be back within two weeks and with the most powerful announcement in modern history." He added that many would like to partner with him and he's been very busy with meetings about his radio future.

It's been a week since Michael Savage left Talk Radio Network after winning a lawsuit he filed to break away from the company. TRN replaced Savage with Jerry Doyle and asked stations to test Jerry out before they made a decision on who to replace Savage with. TRN CEO Mark Masters says, "so far the "try Jerry rate" is around 95% and may be as high as 97%. Response to Jerry is extremely positive. Savage has not announced where he will wind up next or who might syndicate him. He did pop up on the Internet for an hour last Sunday.

Michael Savage will be off the air for "some time" according to his website. He's posted a message that says, "after a grueling legal battle that cost him and his family dearly, Michael Savage can announce he won." Savage filed a lawsuit against TRN in 2010 over his contract and says he is "now free to work with whomever he wishes in the radio industry from this day forward." We've left a message with Savage's attorney to try to get more detail. Late last night Talk Radio network CEO Mark Masters told Radio Ink, ?We are all looking forward to announcing a bright future; radio's October Surprise will begin on Monday, October 1st.? More details as we get them.
Late Thursday night, we've reached out to Premiere, Dial Global and Cumulus regarding the possibility of picking up Savage. Nobody had any comment at this time.
Boston.com reported that Savage spent more than $900,000 fighting his case but was awarded more than $1 million in arbitration. The agreement also calls for Savage to be able to obtain all archived tapes of his show. Savage was heard on nearly 400 stations. World Net Daily broke the story Thursday night and it was one of the top headlines on Drudge.
