Chris Monk has been hired by Adams Radio of Fort Wayne as VP & Market Manager. Monk will run the eight Adams stations in that Indiana market, which are WWFW (Soft Rock 103.9), WBTU (US933), WJFX (Hot 1079), WXKE (963XKE), WGL AM (Fox Sports 1250), WLYV AM (1450 The Patriot), B96.9 (R&B + Old School) and Great Country 103.3. Monk was raised in South Bend, Indiana and has thirty-five years in radio, including as a GM, SM and owner.

Wednesday afternoon at the Radio Show in Indianapolis, Radio Ink Publisher Eric Rhoads presented the 2014 Radio Wayne Awards to radio's best and brightest in sales and management.
The annual awards are named in honor of the late "Radio Wayne" Cornils, a successful broadcaster who also served as EVP of the RAB and SVP at the NAB.
These awards honor the radio superstars whose hard work, dedication, and creativity separate them from the pack. They recognize the people who make the industry work, every single day. Congratulations to the 2014 winners!

Deana Ryan has been hired by Adams Radio of Fort Wayne to serve as midday personality on WBTU US 933 for stations in the newly acquired cluster in Fort Wayne. Deana began her broadcast career in Detroit and also spent several years working in the Fort Wayne market. PD Mark Allen says, ?Deana is a perfect fit for US 93.3. Her experience as an air talent, as well as her production and imaging expertise, is perfect for US 933.?

Every year at the Radio Show, hosted by the NAB and RAB, Radio Ink Publisher Eric Rhoads pays tribute to Radio Wayne Cornils by discussing the tremendously positive impact he had on so many people and by awarding the over-achievers in our industry the awards created in his name. Tomorrow at 5 p.m. is the deadline for you to make nominations for the 2013 Radio Wayne awards. NRG Media/Grand Island, NE's Pat Schroeder took honors as Streetfighter (Sales Rep) of the year, while Greater Media was represented again as Jim Antes of Greater Media/Bala Cynwyd, PA was named Sales Manager of the Year.
Taking NSM honors was Connie Cox of Cumulus Media/Detroit, while CBS Radio/New York's Jenn Donohue is the Radio Wayne winner as Director of Sales.
The General Manager of the Year award went to Alan Bishop, of Finger Lakes Radio Group/Geneva, NY, while the Radio Wayne Market Manager of the Year is Brett Beshore of Clear Channel Radio in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Eric...Thank you for keeping Wayne C's memory alive! My 1st encounter with him was in 1962..he came in to manage KFXD and immediately fired me. I was 18 and Wayne said I sounded "too young" for an MOR station. I came back after a 3 year tour with AFRTS and was immediately hired. I then spent 10 years working for the best boss I ever met. He always had a smile and a frendly word and he was a great teacher. I wonder if those who receive the Radio Wayne awards really know how great a person and broadcaster he really was. I have been out of radio since 1982 but will never forget Wayne Cornils.

Saga Hires Wayne Leland As New Boss in Norfolk
Leland will take over the reigns as Vice President/General Manager at WNOR-FM, WAFX-FM and WJOI-AM. His first day will be July 5th. Leland is currently a Citadel Regional president and with a shakeup about to happen at Citadel, Leland moves over to Saga. Currently Leland manages 12 stations for Citadel. He replaces the departed Diane Hubel. The Citadel sale to Cumulus is expected to close later on in the year.
