2015 Radio Mercury Award Finalists Announced

113 radio spots and campaigns have been named finalists for 2015 Radio Mercury Awards, which honors outstanding radio created by advertising agencies, production companies, radio stations, and students. iHeartMedia Creative Services lead this year's entries with eight nominations, with DDB Chicago close behind with five nominations. The 2015 Radio Mercury Awards ceremony will take place on June 3 in New York City. Additionally, Subway will be awarded as the Radio Marketer of the Year at the awards event.

Arnold Worldwide's Global Chief Creative Officer Jim Elliott, who is serving as Chief Judge for the 2015 Radio Mercury Awards, said: "Great radio is about compelling, entertaining stories to help cultivate a client's brand and messaging. NJBA Hall Of Fame Inductees Announced

3-26-2015

New Jersey Broadcasters Association President and CEO Paul  S. Rotella has announced the newest inductees into the New Jersey Broadcasters Association's Hall of Fame. Rosella noted, "The 2015 NJBA Hall of Fame Class of Inductees is comprised of true pioneers, innovators, and visionaries, with their accomplishments spanning the state and the region."

The 2015 class is inducting legendary broadcasters Harry Hurley, Dan Finn, and Kevin Williams. Rosella said, "In addition, Richard Swetits was named our Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient, and he will enter the NJBA Hall of Fame as part of this extraordinary honor for a lifetime dedicated to our industry and the NJBA." The Hall of Fame inductees will be entered at the 68th Annual NJBA Convention and Gala in Atlantic City on June 17-18.

Conclave Learning Conference 40 Announced

The Conclave has announced the dates for its 40th Summer Learning Conference taking place on July 16 & 17, at the Double Tree by Hilton Minneapolis Park Place. New this year is the addition of the first annual "Speed Mentoring Breakfast." The Conclave Learning Conference has attracted radio and music industry professionals, students, teachers, promotion companies, suppliers, syndicators, and free agents to learn and network. More...

Conclave Chair, Lori Lewis on the new addition to the Learning Conference, "I reached out to many of my radio mentors to see if there was any interest in doing something like a speed mentoring event. These are some of radio's best minds who are naturally very busy so I wasn't sure what the response would be. But when everyone responded with a commitment to volunteer their time and be a part of this, I was deeply moved. This is so exciting. I can't wait for attendees to find out the names of the decision makers they will have access to at this breakfast!"

Radio ACM Award Nominees Announced

ACM released the full list of Radio Award and Songwriter of the Year nominees for the 50th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, co-hosted this year by Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan. The telecast is slated for Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 8 p.m. ET, live, and delayed for the West Coast on CBS. The Radio and Songwriter awards will not be telecast due to  the time constraints of the televised broadcast. The radio awards will be presented during the annual Radio Winners Reception held the day prior to the ACM Awards telecast, on Saturday, April 18, 2015 in Arlington, Texas. The nominees for the Radio Awards are:

2014 Crystal Award Winners Announced

Ten radio stations received 2014 Crystal Awards from the National Association of Broadcasters today in Las Vegas. The NAB's Crystal Radio Awards recognize stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service. 2014 Medallas de Cortez Winners Announced

3-10-14

Monday night at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay in San Diego, Radio Ink Publisher Eric Rhoads announced the 2014 2014 Medallas de Cortez Winners at the Radio Ink Hispanic Radio Conference. Among the winners was Entravision's Jeff Lieberman, who was named Hispanic Broadcaster of the Year.

2014 Country Hall Inductees Announced

10-2-13
The CRS Board of Directors has announced the 2014 Country Radio Hall of Fame inductees in both the Radio and On-Air categories. The Radio inductees are L & L and Alpha CEO Larry Wilson and Mike Brophy from WKLB in Boston. The inductees in the On-Air category are Paul Schadt of WKKT in Charlotte and Jim Denny from WFMS in Indianappolis.

The Class of 2014 will be at a ceremony on Tuesday, February 18 at 6 p.m. at the Nashville Convention Center. The ceremony unofficially kicks off Country Radio Seminar week each year. CRS 2014 will be held February 19-21. 

The Country Radio Hall of Fame is dedicated to the recognition of those individuals who have made significant contributions to the radio industry over a 20-year period, 15 of which must be in the Country format.

2013 Radio Wayne Winners Announced

Radio Ink Publisher Eric Rhoads presented the 2013 Radio Wayne Awards today at the Radio Luncheon at the RAB/NAB Radio Show in Orlando. Honors as America's Best Broadcaster went to Zimmer Broadcasting's John Zimmer, while CBS Radio/Boston's Mark Hannon was named Market Manager of the Year. Finebaum National Show Details Announced

8-8-13

The Paul Finebaum Show will debut on Monday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m. ET. The four-hour daily program will be produced by ESPN Radio.Cumulus Media Networks will distribute the show. ESPN affiliated stations in every market will have the first opportunity to carry the show. Finebaum's former home station in Birmingham (WJOX 94.5 FM), as well as WAPI 100.5 FM, will carry the show. His previous show attracted nearly a quarter of the adult male listeners in Birmingham, ESPN?s highest-rated college football television market the past several years.

Rising Through The Ranks Winners Announced

The scholarship winners for the 2013 Rising Through the Ranks Seminar presented by the RAB, BMI, and Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio have been selected. Twenty people were chosen to attend this year?s seminar on August 21-22 at the BMI Offices in Nashville. Featured speakers include Susan Davenport Austin, Sheridan Broadcasting; RAB CEO Erica Farber; Arbitron's Carol Hanley; Entercom's Weezie Kramer; Dan Spears from BMI; and Cromwell CEO Bud Walters. Scholarships were provided by BMI.

iHeartRadio Festival Lineup Announced Today

This morning at 8:30 ET Clear Channel will announce the 2013 lineup for the iHeartRadio Music Festival. This is the third year for the event being held September 20 and 21 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Ticketmaster has tickets ready to sell for between $71.00 and $664.00 per seat.

Finalists Announced for NY Festivals Awards

5-14-13

New York Festivals International Radio Program & Promos Awards announced the finalists for The World?s Best Radio Programs. The competition received submissions from 36 countries, and honors the most innovative work in radio broadcasting, with entries from radio stations, networks, and independent producers. 233 entries were selected as Finalists. All Radio finalists go on to the medal round of judging to determine Gold, Silver, and Bronze award winners.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation saw 19 entries moving on to the medal round, followed by RTE Ireland with 14 and TBI Media United Kingdom with 8 entries moving forward. Reliance Broadcast Network Ltd. India, 100-102 Today?s FM Ireland, and BBC UK were each honored with 7 Finalists.

ESPN USA, Radio Television Hong Kong, and Real and Smooth Radio United Kingdom each had 6 entries achieve Finalist status. Wise Buddah Creative United Kingdom saw 5 entries moving forward as Finalist. The following companies each had 3 entries moving on to the medals round: Wise Buddha Jingles & Music Imaging Ltd.; O?Reilly Television Inc. Canada;  British Forces Broadcasting Service England;  Radio France; Fever 104 FM India;  Radio Mirchi 98.3FM India;  Radio Netherlands Worldwide; GMG Radio United Kingdom; Ben Manilla Productions, Inc. USA; New York Philharmonic USA; and Sirius XM Radio USA.

iHeartRadio Festival Number Three Announced

No artists were announced, however, Clear Channel says the iHeartRadio Festival will return in 2013. The two-day music event will be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 20 and 21. Clear Channel also announced its continued partnership with Macy's to bring back Macy?s iHeartRadio Rising Star, a campaign designed to spotlight America's emerging musicians and find one lucky artist or group to perform at the iconic iHeartRadio Music Festival. 

The Macy?s iHeartRadio Rising Star campaign, back for its second year, will again conduct a nationwide search for new music. Clear Channel's industry experts and Macy's have selected 25 up-and-coming musicians to present to fans across America, who will then vote for an emerging artist who will be given a chance to perform alongside music's biggest stars at the iHeartRadio Music Festival 2013 and at Macy's Glamorama events this summer. Clear Channel listeners, iHeartRadio fans and Macy?s shoppers will select their favorite emerging talent and vote online at iheartradio.com/RisingStar or at iheartradio.com/Macys. The artist with the most votes will perform at the iHeartRadio Music Festival. Voting begins April 1 and will run through May 12.

Additional Performers Announced For CRS

Country Radio Seminar has announced the additions of Little Big Town, Kacey Musgraves, Josh Turner and Greg Bates to the ?Grand Ole Opry at CRS? show set for Wed., Feb. 27, 2013 at 7 p.m. Grand Ole Opry members Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker and Vince Gill along with Dustin Lynch and Scotty McCreery are also set to perform.
The event will be held in the Performance Hall of the Nashville Convention Center and open to CRS 2013 attendees.  Register for CRS 2013 at www.CountryRadioSeminar.com. MIW Mentoring Details Announced

The Mentoring & Inspiring Women in Radio (MIW) Group announced details for the 2013 Mildred Carter Mentoring Program. This is the 12th year of the program, which matches up-and-coming women in radio with female professionals who are leaders in all aspects of radio. Three candidates from radio will be selected for the program. For instructions on how to apply, visit www.RadioMIW.com. Your deadline to submit is December 21.

The program is named in memory of Mildred Carter, who, along with her husband, Andrew "Skip" Carter, founded the first African American-owned radio station in the U.S. in 1950, when they turned on KPRS Kansas City, Missouri. Mrs. Carter ran the Carter Broadcast Group for many years after the death of Skip Carter, before turning over control of the company to her grandson, Michael Carter in 1987.

Rusty Walker Scholarships Announced

The three inaugural Rusty Walker Scholarship winners are: Jeff Harju (GM, WHKB/Houghton, MI), Cynthia Hayward (Air Personality/MD/Asst. PD, KMOK-FM/Lewiston, ID), and Courtney Smith (Promotions Director, WOLF/Syracuse, NY). The winners will receive an expenses-paid trip and complimentary registration to the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville in February.

CRS Executive Director Bill Mayne said, ?The Rusty Walker Scholarship program stands not only to honor the legacy of one of the Country radio community?s most respected and influential members, but also to extend a helping hand to those coming up through the ranks. What better way to pay tribute to Rusty, who helped so many people throughout his long and prolific career? We are proud and excited to welcome Jeff, Cynthia, and Courtney to their first CRS!?

The Rusty Walker Scholarship program was created in 2012 to honor Country Radio Hall of Fame member Rusty Walker, who passed away in May 2012. Each scholarship provides one full CRS 2013 registration, one ticket to the Country Radio Hall of Fame Dinner, and covers airfare and hotel room expenses for four nights in Nashville.  Scholars will be recognized at the CRS 2013 opening ceremonies and will have the opportunity to meet and interact with CRS board members during the three-day event. All scholarship applications were reviewed by a CRS selection committee.

CRS 2013 will be held Feb. 27-March 1, 2013, at the Nashville Convention Center in downtown Nashville, Tenn.

More Names Announced by Dial Global and NBC

DG and NBC Sports Radio have hired former NFL pro Amani Toomer and radio veterans Eytan Shander, Dan Schwartzman and Kay Adams as part of their new network.  Toomer and Shander will host Amani and Eytan on the new network weekdays from 10PM-1AM. The Dan Schwartzman Show will air Tuesday-Saturday from 1AM-5AM. Adams will anchor the NBC Sports Radio national updates weekdays between 5pm-10pm. and she will appear regularly on the previously announced The Erik Kuselias Show, Monday-Friday between 7pm-10pm ET.
