Arbitron, PPM Coalition Settle Disputes

Arbitron and the group of minority-targeted broadcasters that goes under the name of the PPM Coalition have settled their differences and say they "plan to move forward collaboratively." Among the initiatives agreed to -- with the help of House Oversight Committee Chairman Ed Towns (D-NY) and the MRC -- are targeted in-person recruiting, initially in high-density black and Hispanic area, and address-based sampling to select landline households. The PPM Coalition includes SBS, Univision, Inner City, and the AHAA.

Aurelius Capital Partners and its affiliates have filed a preliminary objection to Citadel Broadcasting's reorganization plan, saying it overpays senior creditors with no distribution to shareholders. Citadel earlier filed its own motion asking the court to force Aurelius to sell its stock.

PPM Disputes Affect Arbitron's Q1

Arbitron's revenues fell 2.6 percent in the first quarter of this year, to $95.9 million from $98.5 million, with the drop due in part, the company says, to the decisions by Univision and other customers not to subscribe to the PPM service in certain markets. Arbitron this morning announced that the disputes over the PPM methodology with the PPM Coalition -- of which Univision is a part -- have been settled.
