Chairman/CEO Jeff Smulyan will keep control of the company under a newly proposed plan to take Emmis Communications private. Under the plan, from the new JS Acquisition and Alden Global Capital, JS will buy all outstanding Emmis common stock at $2.40 per share.

Citadel Radio Revenues Up In Q1

Citadel Broadcasting's net revenues were up 3.8 percent in the first quarter of the year, to $165 million from $158.9 million, with radio station revenues up by 5.5 percent, to $138.1 million from $130.9 million in Q1 of '09. Network radio revenues fell in the quarter, to $28.1 million from $28.9 million.

Arbitron Adjusts Cellphone Sampling

Arbitron said in its regular monthly PPM update Monday that it's expanding its cellphone-only recruiting to include people who have landlines, but rarely or never use them. Arbitron also reports that most of its sample performance metrics held steady in March, with all-time highs in average daily in-tab rates for 18-34s overall and black 18-34-year-olds.
