Citadel Shareholder Says Stock Purchases Were Valid

Aurelius Capital Partners and two associated funds say they bought their collective 5.5 percent stake in Citadel Broadcasting as three separate entities, and were "well aware" of the court's restrictions on purchases of stock in the broadcaster, now in Chapter 11. Citadel has asked the court to force the Aurelius funds to sell their stock.

FCC Commissioner Michael Copps says he's pleased by the settlement between Arbitron and the PPM Coalition, saying it was "obvious" that the PPM was undercounting minority audiences. Commissioner Mignon Clyburn says she has some concerns about the agreement, but says she is "heartened that the parties have negotiated a settlement without formal government action."

The FCC's Media Bureau sets the panelist lineup for its April 30 workshop on "Public and other Noncommercial Media in the Digital Era." The workshop is part of the ongoing "Future of Media" project, and among those set to appear are NPR President/CEO Vivian Schiller and Jake Shapiro of Public Radio Exchange.
