SNL Kagan: Half A Billion In Political For Radio

SNL Kagan's "Broadcast Guide to the 2010 Election" predicts that, although TV stations will benefit most from political spending in a highly competitive election season, radio can expect about $560 million in political spending in 2010. Among radio pureplays, SNL Kagan sees CBS Radio as "likely to receive one of the largest windfalls in political advertising" this year.

RTDNA: Fewer Minority Journalists In '09

The annual RTDNA/Hofstra University survey found that, although the percentage of minority news directors grew in 2009, the overall percentage of minorities in radio and television fell for the third straight year.

Poll: Just 9% Rely On Radio For News

A new Rasmussen Reports poll finds that the Internet is now considered the best way to get news and information by 44 percent of American adults, followed by TV, at 36 percent. Print lags at 11 percent, and only 9 percent say they rely on radio for news.

NAB Again Touts Radio-Capable Cellphones

The NAB ran an ad in Politico Wednesday promoting the findings of the recent Harris Interactive poll that said most Americans would pay for radio on a cellphone. The ad, promoting a required FM chip in mobile phones, says, "Let's keep America safe. Ensure your cell phone is radio ready!"
