Former KGO/KSFO Talk Host Lee Rodgers Dies

2-1-2013

Longtime Bay area broadcaster Lee Rodgers has died. Rodgers was having heart issues and actually died on the operating table last night, having his heart operated on. In ablog post, his wife Susan wrote, "He died like he lived.  He was brave to take the chances of a risky surgery and thanked his surgeons prior to beginning to try to find a way to extend his "used-by" date."

His former partner Melanie Morgan told Radio Ink last night,  "Lee Rodgers was wickedly funny and one of the industry's most exceptional entertainers. He was always brutally honest, a proudly principled conservative, and never backed away from a fight."

Lee was a great radio personality. He was both entertaining and informative. I frequently sent email to him through the radio station and his daily blog and he always responded. He was a stand-up guy. He will be sorely missed.

I was privileged to spend an hour with Lee one night while he was doing his talk show at KGO in the 1980's. He had a few people who did not agree with him but but I got to watch his face while hearing his words. I have never met anyone so compassionate and caring for those who disagreed with him. He was a remarkable man.

I wish we have more people like him! I am sure he is in Heaven now....he is a very brave man!

God Bless all the people he left behind. Ahhh, I didn't even know him personally, but I feel so sad knowing he is gone!
