He said he was a little nervous before he came back on the air at WSCR-AM. Dan McNeil told his Chicago audience that he hadn't been happy and he turned to pot and pain killers and was ready to quit his job. McNeil has had trouble with drugs before. He said, "I returned to a lifestyle of daily weed and pain medication. I got lazy, stopped going to meetings and contacting my sponsor. I'm an addict." It was powerful radio for sure and it did not come easy for McNeil. His partner Matt Spiegel told him, on the air, "I will not pretend this is with full-on trust or joy. We felt betrayed. You know you need to regain some trust." McNeil says he owes his job to WSCR-AM PD Mitch Rosen who, he said, should have fired him. McNeil also apologized to the listeners who he has had a 25-year relationship with.

We'll miss Laurence Holmes who did a great job and deserves to keep it. No further interest in listening to McNeil.

"I returned to a lifestyle of daily weed and pain medication."
