In markets Emmis CEO Jeff Smulyan says national revenue was down 2 percent, his company was up 10 percent. CFO Pat Walsh says that was due to "strengthening in a few big national categories such as wireless and financial. It was not policitcal." Overall, October was a big month for Emmis, with revenue (including WBLS and WLIB) up 10.5 percent.
November was up 5.3 percent and September increased 1.8 percent. Automotive was Emmis' biggest category for the quarter bringing in 12 percent of total revenue. Emmis also saw double-digit growth from health care, financial services, beverages, wireless, and home improvement. For Emmis' next quarter (December, January, and February) pacing is up mid-single digits.
