L & L's JACK-FM in San Antonio is honoring George Strait and his return home after the completion of his world tour. 102.7 JACK FM has changed to ?George FM? and will be commercial free all day today, playing George Strait hits and giving away $500 in ?Georges? all week. PD Mark Landis said, "There are two things in San Antonio everyone can agree on ?The Spurs & and King George. We?re hoping to welcome them both home as champions!?

Memorial Day Weekend, Envision Radio Networks? The Country Oldies Show will offer stations a free three-hour tribute to the late George Jones. From his career achievements to his off-stage shenanigans, The Country Oldies Show?s hosts Steve Warren and Debbie Conner will reflect on the life and music of George ?The Possum? Jones beginning with his first record in 1955.

Seems like only yesterday Noory was taking over for Art Bell as Premiere's overnight host. Noory said, ?It?s amazing how fast ten years goes by and I?m looking forward to ten more. We have grown the affiliate base from 445 stations when I came on to 564, and have increased our digital, multi-platform audiences tremendously."
On Sunday, Noory will celebrate 10 years with a special show featuring appearances by many fan-favorite guests, including paranormal investigator Joshua P. Warren and psychic Joseph Jacobs. Noory will also share memorable interviews and highlights from the past decade.

Mier joins the bilingual Spanish CHR station as Vice President and Program Director. Mier was part of SBS?s WSKQ-FM in New York, and a major player on the team that developed the popular Spanish morning show "The Luis Jimenez Show," which airs on Univision?s WXNY in New York.
WKKQ Chairman Adam Lindemann said, ?We are totally committed to our unique bilingual Spanish CHR format and we are excited to have succeeded in bringing George back to Orlando. His exceptional track record will help bring the station to the next level.? Michelle McPhee was on the air from 11 to 3 and the station also announced that McPhee, who rejoined WRKO in June, will team up with Todd Feinburg in mornings. ?We are excited about our new lineup. Michele and Todd in mornings make us better and bringing Rush back to WRKO gives our listeners the best news talk in Boston,? said Jeff Brown, Vice President and General Manager/Entercom Boston. ?WRKO has a tremendous track record of delivering real results for advertisers. These changes enhance our brand and what we can do for our clients.?
New to the WRKO team is Jeff Kuhner. Kuhner, who has been a regular contributor to the WRKO morning show and has filled in as a host for both Howie Carr and Michele McPhee, will anchor the one hour ?Kuhner Report? from 11am to 12pm. Kuhner is a Washington Times weekly columnist, who has written for Human Events, National Review Online and Investor's Business Daily. He also serves as a fill-in host on Savage Nation.
Finally, WRKO announced that Coast to Coast AM with George Noory will return to the station overnights, holding down the 1am to 5am time slot. Heard by millions of listeners, Coast To Coast AM airs on more than 560 stations in the U.S., Canada and Guam, and is the most-listened-to overnight radio program in North America.

Two of Radio's 40 Most Powerful have been named Giants of Broadcasting by Library of American Broadcasting. The award celebrates "distinguished leadership or performance in television and radio." An event to hone this years recipients will be held October 18th at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City. 140 others have been honored by the Library since 2003.
Additional winners of the award this year are Norman Lear, Ted Turner, Andy Rooney, Sir Howard Stringer, Don Cornelius, Robert MacNeil and Jim Lehrer. This is the 10th year for the awards.

When you're in one industry for 50 years you make a lot of friends. Some of those friends turn out to be pretty darn good on the air. Rick Dees is one of those people who became a good friend of the Beasley family and remains close with the family to this day. Dees has a lot of memories and stories to tell about George Beasley in the upcoming issue of Radio Ink that highlights George Beasley's 50 year radio ride. Last night we spoke to Dees about his friendship with the Beasley's and here is just a snippet of what you will hear on November 21st from one of radio's superstars.

Not surprisingly, perhaps, the book is called Talking To The Dead and Noory co-wrote the book with Rosemary Ellen Guiley. Guiley is a leading expert on the paranormal and supernatural. CHART ROYALTY: By notching a sixth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" passes Lulu's five-week 1967 leader "To Sir With Love" and trails only Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" for most frames tallied at the summit among songs by British-born solo women.
(It's a fitting honor for a song that borrows from British vernacular. Adele, born in Tottenham, North London, describes "Deep" as an "adaptation of a kind of slang, slur phrase in the U.K. called 'roll deep,' which means to ... always have someone that has your back, and you're never on your own").

As parent album "21" returns for a 10th week atop the album survey, Adele extends her lead for longest reign atop the list among sets by British-born solo women.

"21" (which, with 2.2 million sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, is the top-selling album in the U.S. this year) includes an ode to a fellow British act.
Adele's cover of the Cure's "Lovesong," a No. 2 Hot 100 hit for the band in 1989, breaks into the top 20 (22-19) on Billboard's Jazz Songs chart.
LEPPARD SPOTS: Def Leppard likewise represents the U.K. well, as "Mirrorball: Live & More," the rock band's first live album in a career spanning more than 30 years, bows on the Billboard 200 at No. 16.
Released on Mailboat Records, home to (former Billboard Nashville bureau chief) Jimmy Buffett, the set also marks Def Leppard's first independent effort. The album begins on the Independent Albums chart at No. 5.
A Def Leppard album hasn't missed the Billboard 200's top 20 since the group's second release, "High 'n' Dry," peaked at No. 38 in 1981. (The band's debut, "On Through the Night," reached No. 51 in 1980). Beginning with "Pyromania," which spent two weeks at No. 2 in 1983, Def Leppard has sent 12 consecutive albums into the top 20.
The band has scored two No. 1s: "Hysteria" (six weeks, 1988) and follow-up "Adrenalize" (five weeks, 1992).

Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery will add a little extra pressure from two of the biggest stars in country music: Season 4 "American Idol" champion Carrie Underwood and the legendary George Strait.
According to published reports, Underwood and Strait have both selected songs that the two teens will sing this evening. Additionally, the two will perform personal selections from Season 10.
Haley Reinhart To Premiere Debut Single on 'Idol' Finale?
This week will also be the first time "American Idol" fans get to hear the single debuts by both of the finalists. The blog, Taste of Country, revealed yesterday that Scotty's single is titled "Love You This Big" and Lauren will unveil her version of Kristy Lee Cook's "Like My Mother Does."
