Ken Beatrice hosted WMAL-AM's "Sports Call" from 1977 to 1995. The Boston native was appearing on WBZ-AM sports shows as a guest, when the station offered him a show called "Calling All Sports" in 1975. In 1995 Beatrice took the show to what is now ESPN 980. He retired in 2000 due to health problems but did some part-time work for WBIG-FM during football season. He died from complications from pneumonia.
