Citadel's Reorg Plan Approved

A U.S. bankruptcy judge said Monday he will approve Citadel Broadcasting's reorganization plan, rejecting the claims of a dissident shareholder group. Judge Burton Lifland said Citadel "has met the burden of confirmation," BusinessWeek reports.

NAB On Ownership Rules: Vacate & Remand

The NAB has filed its brief with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in the ongoing duel over media ownership, saying, "The court cannot uphold the [FCC's] failure to meaningfully review its outdated broadcast ownership restrictions." The organization wants the local television rule vacated and other rules remanded to the FCC "to further consider repealing or reducing their restrictions."

With stations now allowed to increase their digital power, the FCC's Media Bureau is offering guidance on procedures for stations to follow to notify the FCC if they plan to power up.

The FCC's Media Bureau sets the panelists and agenda for the May 21 workshop on media ownership at Stanford University. Among those set to appear is Pandora founder Tim Westergren; no one from broadcast radio is scheduled for either panel.

Westwood One Revenues Rise In Q1

In the first quarter, Westwood One saw its revenues rise year-over-year -- the first time the company's been able to say that since 2005. Westwood One brought in $928 million in Q1, up 8.1 percent from $85.9 million in the same period in 2009, with gains for both network radio and Metro Traffic.

Radio Revs Up At Radio One

Radio One reports that its net revenues for radio came in at $49.2 million in the first quarter, up 7.9 percent from $47.3 million in Q1 2009. Overall, revenue was down 2.1 percent, to $59 million from $60.3 million, driven largely by a sharp decline at Reach Media.

LBI Revenues Up In Q1; Radio Flat

LBI Media saw its overall net revenues move up 9.9 percent, to $23.6 million from $21.5 million in Q1 2009. Radio revenues were essentially flat at $11.8 million.
