RAB: Radio Revenue Up 6 Percent In Q1

The RAB's revenue report for the first quarter shows radio revenue moving up 6 percent in Q1, to $3.7 billion, with local up 2 percent and national revenue surging 19 percent. Network was up 6 percent year-over-year, and digital revenue rolled up by 18 percent, to $123 million.

Prometheus Asks For FCC Review On HD Power Increase

Prometheus Radio Project is asking the full FCC to review the decision by the Media Bureau to permit a blanket power increase for FM HD Radio. Prometheus says the bureau made its decision "without consideration of any of the substantive concerns and recommendations submitted by Prometheus and other affected parties."


Station Complains To FCC Over KRTH Digital Interference

All Pro Broadcasting, licensee of AC KATY-FM in Idyllwild, CA, says it is filing a petition with the FCC seeking relief from "ongoing and destructive interference" from the digital operations of CBS Radio's KRTH-FM/Los Angeles. All Pro is asking the FCC to have KRTH reduce its digital power.

FTC OKs Google's Purchase Of AdMob

The Federal Trade Commission has wrapped up its inquiry into Google's proposed purchase of AdMob, saying the deal "is unlikely to harm competition in the emerging market for mobile advertising networks." The decision was largely due to Apple's launch of a competing mobile ad network.

Ramar Returns Donations To Listeners

Ramar Communications has returned $26,100 to 40 listeners who believed they were donating money to help a mother with a terminally ill child. The story of the Iraq War widow was allegedly concocted by former KLZK/Lubbock personality Charles Joslin, now in jail and facing charges.

The latest RTDNA/Hofstra survey finds that 62.6 percent of stations are using digital audio recording in their news coverage, and a 54.2 percent repot that they're using digital editing and mixing.
