Apple has changed the rules for its operating system to block companies that compete with Apple in mobile from collecting advertising user data. That rules change apparently excludes Google's AdMob from the iPhone and iPad platforms. Apple recently launched iAds -- a development that was cited by the FTC when it allowed Google to go ahead with the AdMob purchase. |

Venerable peer-to-peer LimeWire may be looking at the end of the road, as 13 RIAA labels have asked a judge to shut it down. Limewire has two weeks to respond to the motion. The same judge last month granted summary judgment to the labels, finding LimeWire's parent company and its founder liable for copyright infringement. |

A new poll from Rasmussen Reports finds that 84 percent of Americans would oppose a 3 percent tax on cellphone bills to help "traditional journalism," and 74 percent are against a tax on aggregators like the Drudge Report to raise money to help put newspapers. The Federal Trade Commission floated a number of such proposals in a recent draft report on "reinventing journalism." |
