Cumulus Made $2.1 Billion Bid For Citadel

Cumulus Media confirms that it was indeed the bidder for Citadel Broadcasting whose offers -- the second adding up to $2.1 billion -- were twice rejected by the Citadel board. In a letter to the Citadel board, Cumulus Chairman/CEO Lew Dickey reiterates the offer and writes, "We do not understand why you have been unwilling to engage with us to explore such a transaction and to consider its benefits to Citadel and its shareholders."

Citadel Responds To Cumulus, R2 Letters

After Cumulus made public a letter to Citadel's board reiterating an earlier $2.1 billion merger offer, Citadel says it rejected Cumulus' approaches for "many reasons," including, it says, because, "The proposal was neither credible nor an appropriate valuation." Citadel also responds to claims made by R2 Investments, saying the claims are "baseless" and a "heavyhanded ploy by R2 to advance its own interests."

Ohana Media Group, headed by New Northwest Broadcasters CEO Trila Bumstead, now has a definitive purchase agreement in place to purchase nine NNB stations. Additionally, NNB/Anchorage VP/GM Bill Sigman is set to join Ohana as COO when the deal is concluded, and NNB VP/Programming Tom Oakes will take the same role at Ohana.

Delicious is being dropped by Yahoo, which bought it in 2005, but the social bookmarking site says it hopes to keep running. Also reportedly due to be shuttered: AltaVista, AllTheWeb, and MyBlogLog.
