Why Did TownSquare Sell 6 Stations to Rich Broadcasting?

A company that was seemingly on the way up, in terms of growth, sells 6 stations out of the blue. Why? Townsquare Media CEO Steven Price in tells Radio Ink Magazine not to look too much into the company's recent sale. It was the right move at the right time.

The Pandora shot across your Radio station remote vehicle axle has just been made. "Traditional radio stations broadcast the same content at the same time to all of their listeners". Ouch. That hurts. Pandora says "we enable each of our listeners to create up to 100 personalized stations." Traditional Radio programmers have always shied away from even letting an in-studio DJ vary from the format. Can you imagine what they would say if callers wanted to program songs? How many times has the PD said this during an "all request hour": "only play the songs in the format." And here is Pandora making a life out of such consumer-driven lunacy. It's a dilemma.

Hanson died Friday at the Gold City Convalescent Center in Dahlonega of complications following a series of strokes. His memorial service is 2 p.m. on Feb. 19 at Big Canoe Chapel, Jasper, with a reception to follow at Broyles Community Center, Jasper.

NPR Cries Foul Over Loss of Free Money

NPR’s CEO and President Vivian Schiller spoke out about the House Appropriations Committee’s formal proposal to zero out federal funding for public broadcasting. “The elimination of federal funding would be a significant blow to nearly 900 public radio stations that serve the needs of more than 38 million Americans with free over-the-air programming they can’t find anywhere else,� Ms. Schiller said.

The FCC has leveled a $10,000 fine against a Pirate operator Bernabe Moreno in New Jersey. They says Moreno's been operating on the frequency 102.3. Agents first inspected the facility in April of last year. Agents found the station operating in a building on Monroe street in Passaic.
