Entercom Milwaukee's sports station WSSP-AM is adding Milwaukee Bucks radio play-by-play voice Ted Davis to its on-air staff. Davis will be a regular commentator on The Big Show, initially providing exclusive analysis during the 2012-13 Bucks season. The Big Show airs Monday-Friday from 2pm-6pm and is hosted by Steve ?Sparky? Fifer along with Ramie Makhlouf and former Packer/Badger running back Gary Ellerson.
WSSP Program Director Tom Parker said, ?Ted will weigh-in on the day?s top Wisconsin sports stories and of course he?ll share his unique perspective on Milwaukee basketball with our listeners. Ted is a sports talk pro who knows what fans want and will tell it like it is.? Davis is enters his 39th year in broadcasting, with the 2012-13 campaign marking his 15th season as the radio "Voice of the Bucks." He came to Milwaukee following nine seasons calling the action for the Dallas Mavericks.
A native of Lubbock, Texas, Davis began his radio career at the age of 17 when he was hired by KDNT in Denton, Texas. He spent 10 years (1978-88) on the sports staff at KVIL in Dallas-Fort Worth, and called Texas Christian University and Texas A&M games for the Southwest Conference radio network from 1982-86. He has also covered the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament for CBS Radio from 1986-88 and the NCAA Women's Final Four in 1986 and 1987. Davis has also held announcing positions with KLIF-AM and WBAP-AM in Dallas-Fort Worth, the Mutual Broadcasting System, and North Texas State University (men's basketball and football). Ted and his wife, Debbie, also a native Texan, reside in Menomonee Falls.
