Vehicle sales rose 9 percent in the month of June, another good sign for radio's largest ad category and for the overall economy. Vehicle sales are up 8 percent this year to 7.8 million. Analysts now expect volume to reach about 15.5 million for the year, compared with 14.49 million in 2012. Compared to one year ago, Ford and Nissan sales increased 13 percent. Toyota and Honda were up 10 percent. GM saw an increase of 7 percent from a year earlier. Chrysler was up 8 percent. Subaru increased 42 percent in June thanks to the redesigned Forester and all-new XV Crosstrek. Trucks were a big part of the June gains. At Chrysler, Ram deliveries were up 23 percent. The Ford F-Series was up 24 percent.
