Former NY Governor Back On The Air

7-18-13

Following the purchase of WOR in New York by Clear Channel, New York Governor David Paterson was let go from his afternoon drive shift. Today, Salem announced they have added Paterson to the 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. slot on AM 970 The Answer where he will co-host with Curtis Sliwa. Sliwa will continue to host the morning show solo, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

AM 970 The Answer VP/GM Jerry Crowley, who first hired Paterson when he was GM of WOR, said, "There was no more beloved or recognizable figure in talk radio than the Gov. It's amazing how fast he became skilled behind the microphone. He created quite a buzz when he first started reading commercials and our clients simply loved it. He was a big part of our success."

Paterson said, "I am ecstatic at the prospect of returning to talk radio at AM 970 The Answer and co-hosting with one of the living legends in the business, Curtis Sliwa. Working with Curtis, as opposed to being a solo host, gives me a wider berth to air my opinions and strike up an interesting back and forth with an outspoken and articulate critic on everything." Paterson was a member of the state legislature in Albany representing the New York City area, then became Lt. Governor and later Governor upon the resignation of former governor Elliott Spitzer. He served as the 55th governor of New York from 2008 to 2010.
