WFUV Brings the U.K. to the U.S.A.

On July 6, New York non-com WFUV will launch a new show called UKNY, Saturday nights at 11 p.m. ET, hosted by The Alternate Side's Kara Manning. UKNY will feature music from emerging U.K. bands like Money, Public Service Broadcasting and Temples as well as more familiar favorites like Pulp, Tricky and Arctic Monkeys. The program will also feature a brand new "Commonwealth Cut" each week from bands and artists out of Australia, Canada, South Africa, and beyond.

UKNY host Kara Manning is content editor, writer and interviewer for The Alternate Side and WFUV. She?s written for Rolling Stone, MTV News and NPR and is the former producer of Vin Scelsa's Idiots Delight?. She has interviewed PJ Harvey, New Order's Bernard Sumner, Elbow, Bat for Lashes, and scores of other UK artists for WFUV. Kara is the recipient of the 2007 Princess Grace Award in playwriting, and her work has been produced or developed via the Royal Court Theater, Out of Joint, the O'Neill Playwrights Conference, Page 73 Productions, MCC, MTC and other theaters. She is also the literary manager of the Irish Repertory Theatre.

New York?s Rock and Roots station WFUV (90.7 FM, www.wfuv.org) is a noncommercial, member-supported radio station, licensed to Fordham University for 65 years. WFUV has received national recognition for its award-winning weekday format of adult album alternative music, local and NPR news, and a diverse weekend lineup.  WFUV?s robust website has extensive audio archives, videos, song playlists, an events calendar, blog and other resources.
