The mammoth NAB Show in Las Vegas kicks off next week and despite how easy it is to get lost amongst the 98,000 people, there will be a healthy dose of radio sessions awaiting your arrival. There will be over 750 sessions planned during the week, many of them specifically targeting radio sales and management, including 55 that are part of the Broadcast Management Conference. If you're heading to Vegas to enhance your ability to sell, manage, and motivate back home, here are a few you may want to check off as favorites on your NAB Show app.
On Monday the 13th at noon, RAB President and CEO Erica Farber will moderate the panel discussion "Vision and Leadership -- Getting the Buy-In." Farber and the panel of three radio upper executives will look at how the most successful managers are actually inspirational, communicative leaders. On top of the great information, there is a free box lunch to attendees.
On Monday at 2 p.m., MITTONMedia President and CEO John Mitton will present "Recruiting Radio Sales Superstars in the New Media World." One of the most common comments from radio sales managers is "I can't find good salespeople anymore." Mitton will offer some tips on how to find and recruit talented salespeople from within and from outside of media, among other topics of interest.
Creative Resources CEO Gerry Tabio will present "7 Ways to Leverage Your Client Needs Analysis for Radio Sales Success" on Monday at 3:15 p.m. Too often, the lack of understanding of what a client truly needs results in frustration and lost revenue. Tabio will present ideas that sales managers can bring back to their teams to help produce better success for sales and to better service the clients.
One of the most popular sessions each year is the "Small and Medium Radio Markets Idea Exchange." That will take place on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Cromwell Group President Bud Walters will moderate the panel discussion as they share some of their winning sales and promotion ideas. The second half of the session will have the audience break into groups to brainstorm ideas of their own. Each of the groups will be seated at tables that will feature radio experts to help with the sharing of ideas. The goal of the session is to have managers return to their stations with solid ideas on how improve revenue.
On Tuesday, starting at 2:30 p.m., there will be a six-part session entitled "45 Foolproof Ideas to Enrich Your Radio Station." Among the mini-sessions within the whole presentation will be topics on leadership, technology to help staffs, monetizing community service efforts, monetizing apps, ways to stay in legal compliance for the station, and one mini-session entitled "Seven Ideas to Drive Radio's Revenue Growth." That section will be presented by RAB Senior Vice President, Professional Development John Potter who will be presenting new ideas on how to deliver sustained revenue growth for radio stations.
All of the sessions being presented at this year's NAB Show can be seen here.
