At 5:00pm ET on Friday, CBS Radio Philadelphia rebranded WRDW-FM as 96.5 AMP Radio. The CHR station promises to deliver "the best new pop, pop-rhythmic and dance music." At the start of this week, the station?s previous branding of Wired 96.5 was dropped.
Along with the new branding comes a new website and domain name: 965AMP.com.
CBS Radio SVP/Market Manager Marc Rayfield said: "AMP Radio will be a highly attractive brand for Philadelphia's young adult listener. The popularity of today's pop music is at an all-time high and we're looking forward to increasing the station's already powerful reach with advertisers and listeners, both on-air and online."
Earlier in the week, the station released its morning show host Chunky and its afternoon host/PD Buster Satterfield. Bobby Smith has been named as new WRDW-FM Program Director, but no new hosts have yet been announced.
Smith, who most recently was PD of Orlando's 101.9 AMP Radio, said Friday: "This is the most exciting time to introduce a new brand as we have an almost unlimited amount of digital opportunities to connect and engage with our local Philly audience. I look forward to 96.5 AMP Radio being the local listener's first choice for hearing their favorite new hit music!"
