Cumulus Media announced on Tuesday that Rick Vaughn will take over as program director of KBER/K-Bear and KHTB/The ALT in Salt Lake City. He will be replacing PD Sue Kelly, who also loses her midday on-air shift on KBER and exits the company.
After working most of his career with Clear Channel/iHeartMedia, programming for them for 15 years in numerous markets, Vaughn now joins Cumulus. After a very brief stint with Beasley Broadcast Group in Philadelphia in 2014, Vaughn launched AIM, READY, FIRE LLC, a talent-coaching and radio-branding consultancy.
Vaughn said in Tuesday's announcement: "No one places a higher value on our listeners and quality local programming than Cumulus. I am deeply appreciative of Troy Hanson, Mike McVay and John Dickey for the opportunity to join their team in Salt Lake City. ALT 94.9 and KBER 101 are literally loaded with talent. We have so many great moments ahead of us. Simply, this is the most exciting mission of my career."
In related Cumulus Salt Lake City news, Mike Parsons exits as PD of KENZ/Trax 101.9, replaced by Dain Craig, who also is PD of KBEE/B98.7.
