Non-commercial radio is not immune to the layoffs we've been seeing in the radio industry. Twincities.com reports MPR has shown nine newsroom staffers the door and will eliminate two vacant positions. MPR spokeswoman Angie Andresen said, "While some of these changes are difficult, we believe the steps we are taking will ensure that MPR News remains a relevant, vital and trusted source of news and information for the people we serve." The layoffs include reporters, editors, photographers and producers.
