Julie Gilbert-Cahill, a radio promotion director turned music manger during the 1980s and 1990s, passed away on July 20 at the age of 58. Gilbert-Cahill served as head of promotion for then-ABC-owned Rock station WRIF/Detroit. She is credited with making the station an iconic powerhouse of national significance in the early 1980s. "She was a fearless, energetic promotion person who played a huge role in our success," said WRIF-FM program director at the time, Fred Jacobs, now President of Jacobs Media.
