PPM markets.
TWELVE TAKEAWAYS
1)
New York – Back in February, WSKQ "Mega 97.9" reached #1 (6+) for the first time in its
PPM-history, only to proceed to register four successive down or flat trends for a combined -1.5 (6.6 – 6.4 – 6.2 – 5.1 – 5.1, 6+). Moreover, 5.1 in April and May was its weakest showing since November (4.9, 6+). The
Spanish Broadcasting System tropical outlet turns things around in June though with a whopping gain of nine-tenths to 6.0 (6+) to zoom from fifth to second. Meanwhile, its Spanish tropical rival –
Univision's WXNY "X-96.3" – falters by one-half share (3.7 – 3.2, 6+) and departs the top ten (#10 to #12). Progressing from seventh to sixth,
iHeartMedia classic rocker WAXQ "Q-104.3" posts its (appropriately enough) sixth straight monthly without a decrease (3.1 – 3.5 – 3.6 – 4.0 – 4.2 – 4.2 – 4.4, 6+). Up or flat December – "Holiday" – January – February (3.5 – 3.5 – 4.0 – 4.1, 6+), cluster-mate WKTU dropped one-tenth in March; faltered by another seven-tenths in April; regained two-tenths in May; and adds six-tenths in June (4.1 – 4.0 – 3.3 – 3.5 – 4.1, 6+), as the rhythmic CHR returns to the top ten (#12 to #8). After three successive sweeps of being down or flat (2.9 – 2.8 – 2.8 – 2.6, 6+),
CBS Radio CHR WBMP "Amp" (#15 to #14) piles on one-half share to May's +.2 (2.8 – 3.3, 6+), advancing from #14 to #11. The 3.3 in June 2016 represents the strongest 6+-stat for "Amp" ever since it changed calls from WNOU to WBMP in June 2014. Co-owned hot AC WNEW-FM "Fresh 102.7" (formerly WWFS) gains one-tenth (2.9 – 3.0, #13 to #14), as does
Cumulus Media's similarly programmed WPLJ (2.5 – 2.6, steady at #16). This is the 18th successive sweep that WPLJ has recorded a 6+-share between 2.0 – 2.9 (6+). On top for
16 ratings periods before slipping to #2 in February, iHeartMedia adult contemporary WLTW "Lite-FM" is #1 for the fourth straight time. Following a 12.8 in the "Holiday" 2015 sweep, "Lite-FM" has registered six straight showings in the six-share range (6.7 – 6.3 – 6.7 – 6.5 – 6.4 – 6.4, 6+); February's 6.3 was its lowest 6+-share since November 2014 (5.6). Following three consecutive monthlies without a decrease (3.3 – 3.3 – 3.5 – 3.8, 6+), CBS Radio sports outlet/
New York Yankees flagship WFAN "The Fan" regresses by six-tenths to 3.2 (6+) and exits the top ten (#9 to #12).
2)
Los Angeles – Three group owners control the top eight rankers, with
iHeartMedia at #1, #2, and #3;
CBS Radio at #4,
#5, and #6; and
Univision Radio controlling two stations tied at #7. Although off by one-tenth (5.4 – 5.3, 6+), iHeartMedia adult contemporary KOST "Coast 103.5" boasts #1 honors for the
eighth successive sweep. It has a slim two-tenths advantage over CHR sibling KIIS "Kiss FM," which picks up two-tenths to 5.1 (6+), thus ending three straight ratings periods without an
increase (5.5 – 5.1 – 5.1 – 4.9, 6+). "Kiss" leapfrogs co-owned hot AC KBIG "My-FM" (5.1 – 5.0, -.1, 6+), which ironically had been up or flat the past three times (4.5 – 4.8 – 4.8 – 5.1, 6+). Unchanged at #4, CBS Radio smooth AC KTWV "The Wave" enjoys its fourth straight monthly without a decrease (4.2 – 4.4 – 4.4 – 4.7 – 4.7, 6+). Tied at #7 with co-owned Spanish contemporary KLVE, Univision Radio's Spanish adult hits KRCD "Recuerdo" is up or flat for the third straight time (3.0 – 3.4 – 3.6 – 3.6, 6+). Following six consecutive ratings periods of being up or flat resulting in a combined gain of one full-share (2.3 – 2.4 – 2.6 – 2.9 – 3.2 – 3.2 – 3.3, 6+), iHeartMedia alternative KYSR-FM "Alt 98.7" declines by three-tenths to 3.0 (6+) and exits the top ten (#9 to #12). Prior to hitting 3.2 in March, "Alt 98.7" was in the two-share range the previous
18 sweeps. Right behind it at #13 is format challenger, CBS Radio's KROQ, whose last five trends have been 3.1 – 2.9 – 3.1 – 2.9 – 2.9, 6+). At #15 for the fourth time in a row,
Emmis rhythmic CHR KPWR "Power 106" is in the 2.6 – 2.9 range for the eleventh successive survey (2.6 – 2.8, +.2, 6+). Having doubled its March .5 (6+) to 1.0 in April, iHeartMedia-owned
Los Angeles Dodgers flagship KLAC "AM 570 Sports" adds two-tenths in May and another one-tenth in June (1.2 – 1.3, 6+), inching up from #29 to #28. Not only is KLAX "97.9 La Raza" down for the seventh consecutive sweep for a combined -1.4 (3.5 – 3.3 – 3.0 – 2.9 – 2.6 – 2.5, 2.2 – 2.1, 6+), the
Spanish Broadcasting System regional Mexican slides out of the top 20 (#18 to #21).
3)
Chicago – The market's hot news this time last month was the stellar performance of
Chicago Cubs' first-year flagship WSCR;
June's big story though in the "Windy City" is CHR. Specifically,
CBS Radio-owned WBBM-FM "B-96" improves by seven-tenths (3.4, 6+) and
iHeartMedia's WKSC "103.5 Kiss-FM" registers a gain of one-half share (3.9 – 4.4, fifth to fourth, 6+).
Leaping from #16 all the way to #9, "B-96" had been down or flat the past four sweeps (3.3 – 3.0 – 3.0 – 2.8 – 2.7, 6+) and has its best 6+-performance since last August (3.6). After regressing by six-tenths in May,
Hubbard Broadcasting classic hits-oldies WDRV "The Drive 97.1" gains it all back (3.4 – 2.8 – 3.4, 6+) and returns to the top ten (#12 to #9). Prior to May's -.6, "The Drive" had been up or flat the previous three ratings periods (2.6 – 3.2 – 3.2 – 3.4, 6+). In the runner-up slot the past five sweeps, iHeartMedia urban AC WVAZ "V-103" registers a 6.1 (6+) for the third straight time – but – jumps to #1. "V-103," which was up one-half share in April, succeeds WBBM-AM. CBS Radio all-news WBBM-AM (first to second) had been on top the past five monthlies, but is down for the fourth straight time for a combined loss of -1.1(6.9 – 6.6 – 6.5 – 6.4 – 5.8, 6+). Backing up to co-owned WSCR, the Cubs' key station slows down to a -.1 in June, after a massive +1.0 in May (3.2 – 4.2 – 4.1, 6+) but is steady at #4. May's 4.2 represented the first time in the station's
PPM-history that it crossed the four-share threshold (6+). Before reaching 3.2 in April, WSCR had been in two-share territory the previous 10 sweeps. Meanwhile, this marks the third consecutive down trend for WMVP "
ESPN Chicago 1000″ (#23 to #25), which has a 6+-share erosion of nearly 50% since March (2.6 – 2.0 – 1.9 – 1.4, 6+). Model of consistency WSHE is within 2.0 – 2.9 range (6+) for the
26th straight monthly (2.8 – 2.6, -.2, 6+), but the Hubbard Broadcasting adult contemporary drops from a four-way logjam at #12 in May to #16; 2.8 in May was its best 6+-share since October 2014 (also 2.8). For the fifth straight month, iHeartMedia hot AC WLIT (fifth to sixth, 6+) is without an increase (13.9 – 4.7 – 4.5 – 4.0 – 3.9 – 3.9 – 3.7, 6+); "My-FM" is a whopping -10.2 in that stretch. Format foe – Hubbard Broadcasting's WTMX "101.9 The Mix" – gains one-tenth (4.9 – 5.0, 6+) and remains steady at #3.
4)
San Francisco – With a 1.8 (6+) in three of the last seven sweeps,
Spanish Broadcasting System regional Mexican
KRZZ "93.3 La Raza" busts out a +.6 to 2.4, its best 6+-stat since October 2012 (also 2.4) and climbs from #20 to #15. Scoring gains of one-half each are
CBS Radio CHR KMVQ "99.7 New Hit Music Now" (3.0 – 3.5, #12 to #7, 6+) and
iHeartMedia classic hits-oldies KOSF "iHeart 80s @ 103.7" (2.0 – 2.5, #17 to #14); 3.5 is the best 6+-performance for "Now" since November's 3.7. Steady at #16,
Cumulus Media classic rocker KSAN "107.7 The Bone" (2.3, +.2, 6+) halts its string of six consecutive ratings periods without
an increase (2.9 – 2.7 – 2.7 – 2.7 – 2.5 – 2.3 – 2.1, 6+). The market's top three finishers are spoken-word outlets, including KSAN cluster-mate KNBR (6.7, -.1, 6+) which is #1 for the third straight time. "The Sports Leader" supplanted all-news KCBS-AM at #1 in April; May's 6.8 is its strongest 6+-stat since an 8.9 in November 2014. While steady at #2, all-news KCBS-AM is nonetheless without an increase for the fourth successive sweep (6.2 – 6.0 – 5.5 – 5.4 – 5.4, 6+); public KQED-FM (4.8 – 4.9, +.1, 6+) remains at #3. Down or flat for the third straight time for a cumulative -1.0 (3.0 – 3.0 – 2.6 – 2.0, 6+),
Entercom urban AC KBLX "102.9 The Bay's R&B" skids from #14 to #18. One week before the
April sweep concluded, iHeartMedia transitioned urban-rhythmic oldies KISQ to soft AC as "The Breeze." The transition paid quick dividends as "The Breeze" cracked the top ten in
May, zooming from #16 to #8; however, it regresses by four-tenths in June (2.2 – 3.6 – 3.2 6+) and drops to #11. Steady at #4, Entercom adult contemporary KOIT-FM is off three-tenths and over the course of six consecutive down or flat reports (10.4 – 5.6 – 5.4 – 4.6 – 4.6 – 4.3 – 4.0, 6+), "Better Variety for a Better Workday" has dropped a combined -6.4 and more than 60% of its 6+-share. In a statistical oddity,
Alpha Media AC KBAY is without a gain in the San Francisco report for the sixth straight time (2.6 – 1.7 – 1.4 – 1.4 – 1.2 – 1.2 -1.0, 6+) and its loss over that period
exactly mirrors that of KOIT-FM in its stretch –
both are -61.5% in their respective streaks. Following four successive gains (2.4 – 2.8 – 2.9 – 3.1 – 3.2, 6+), Entercom rhythmic hot AC KRBQ "Q-102.1 The Throwback Station" drops four-tenths to 2.8 (6+), moving from #11 to #13. Unchanged at #22, Cumulus Media triple A KFOG is down or flat for the sixth successive time (2.2 – 2.1 – 2.0 – 1.9 – 1.8 – 1.7 – 1.7, 6+), while talk cluster-mate KSFO is down or flat for the fifth consecutive sweep (2.9 – 2.4 – 2.4 – 2.0 – 2.0 – 1.8, 6+) to drop out of the top 20 (#17 to #21).
5)
Dallas – In addition to progressing from #14 to #11 as a result of a strong +.7 (2.7 – 3.4, 6+),
Cumulus Media talker WBAP
records its best 6+-stat in more than three years (3.6, May 2013). Enjoying gains of one-half share each are
Salem contemporary Christian KLTY "Safe for the Whole Family" (3.3 – 3.8, #11 to #7, 6+);
CBS Radio hot AC KVIL (2.6 – 3.1, #16 to #13, 6+); and
Radio One rhythmic CHR KBFB "97.9 The Beat" (3.0, #18 to #15, 6+). "The Beat" was off the past three monthlies for a combined -.8
(3.3 – 2.9 – 2.7 – 2.5, 6+). Without a decrease for the sixth successive sweep, including being locked on 3.5 for the third straight time,
Cumulus Media's KSCS is steady at #9 (2.6 – 2.7 – 3.1 – 3.2 – 3.5 – 3.5 – 3.5, 6+). Co-owned, similarly programmed KPLX "The Wolf" remains in third-place and somewhat parallels its sibling, in that, "The Wolf" hasn't had a decrease in the past four monthlies and is frozen on
4.7 for the third straight time (4.3 – 4.4 – 4.7 – 4.7 – 4.7, 6+). Over and above registering its third straight increase resulting in a cumulative +1.0 (5.3 – 5.5 – 6.1 – 6.3, 6+), CBS Radio classic hits-oldies KLUV ends four successive sweeps in the runner-up slot and unseats
iHeartMedia CHR KHKS "Kiss-FM" at #1. Prior to a +.2 in
April, KLUV had three straight dips resulting in an exactly 50% loss of its 6+-share (10.6 – 6.6 – 6.1 – 5.3, 6+). After a seven-tenths gain in April, "Kiss-FM" was off one-half share in May and coughs up another three-tenths in June (6.7 – 6.2 – 5.9, 6+); it had been #1 the past four ratings periods. Sputtering by one-half share each are iHeartMedia-owned KEGL "The Eagle Rocks" (3.6 – 3.1, #8 to #13, 6+); Radio One urban-rhythmic oldies KSOC "Boom 94.5" (2.1 – 1.6, #22, 6+); and
Univision Radio Spanish contemporary KDXX (1.4, #24, 6+). The -.5 by KDXX curtails four successive progressive trends (1.2 – 1.3 – 1.4 – 1.7 – 1.9, 6+).
6)
Houston – A robust +.9 (4.1 – 5.0, 6+) enables
Radio One rhythmic CHR KBXX "97.9 The Box" to jump from eighth to sixth;
"The Box" had been in 4.0 – 4.4 range (6+) the past six sweeps. In March,
iHeartMedia adult contemporary KODA relinquished the six-tenths it gained in February, but bounced back with a one-half share increase in April only to drop three tenths in May and remain flat in June (7.2 – 7.8 – 7.2 – 7.7 – 7.4 – 7.4, 6+); nonetheless, "Sunny 99.1" ranks first for the
22nd consecutive
ratings period. Talk sibling KTRH though drops seven-tenths (4.2 – 3.5, 6+) to plummet from the top ten (#7 to #13). Owing to a +.1,
Univision regional Mexican KLTN has its third successive gain for a combined +1.5 (4.9 – 5.4 – 6.3 – 6.4, 6+) and is in sole possession of second-place; "Escucha Radio" was part of a three-way tie in the runner-up slot in May. This is the best 6+-share for KLTN in just over three years (6.7, May 2013). Either by itself or in a tie, Radio One urban AC KMJQ "Majic 102.1" had been part of the runner-up slot the past 11 sweeps, but drops to fourth (6.3 – 6.1, 6+). After faltering by one-half share in May, KUHF replicates that decline and is off for the fourth straight time (3.8 – 3.7 – 3.5 – 3.0 – 2.5, 6+), tumbling from #15 to #19; 2.5 is the lowest 6+-share for the
University of Houston-owned facility since last October (also 2.5).
7)
Philadelphia – For the sixth successive sweep,
Greater Media adult hits WBEN-FM "Playing Anything We Feel Like"
(#13 to #12) registers an up or flat trend for a combined +1.1 (2.6 – 2.8 – 2.9 – 3.0 – 3.0 – 3.1 – 3.7, 6+). It is the best 6+-performance for "Ben" since last October's 3.9. Also enjoying a gain of six-tenths is
CBS Radio-owned WXTU "Philadelphia's Country Station" (4.9 – 5.5, seventh to fifth, 6+), which likewise has its finest 6+-showing
since last October (5.8). Improving by one-half share each are WXTU cluster-mate WOGL "Philadelphia's Greatest Hits" (steady at #2, 6+); WBEN-FM sibling WMGK "Classic Rock 102.9" (6.0 – 6.5, unchanged at #3, 6+); and
iHeartMedia urban contemporary WUSL "Power 99" (3.7 – 4.2, #11 to #9, 6+). This represents the fifth straight gain for classic hits-oldies WOGL for a cumulative +1.3 (5.9 – 6.2 – 6.3 – 6.6 – 6.7 – 7.2, 6+) and seventh successive #2 finish. A trio of positive trends by "Classic Rock 102.9" that yielded a combined +1.2 (4.8 – 5.5 – 6.0, 6+) was curtailed in March with a -.4; WMGK stumbled by six-tenths in April but roared back in May with a robust full-share gain. After four straight declines (3.4 – 3.2 – 3.1 – 3.0 – 2.9, 6+),
Radio One urban-rhythmic oldies WRNB "Old School 100.3" posts a +.1 to 3.0 (#14 to #13). Co-owned/similarly formatted WPHI "Boom 107.9" (#20 to #19), however, hasn't had an increase in the past six sweeps and has been frozen on 1.8 since March (2.3 – 2.1 – 2.1 – 1.8 – 1.8 – 1.8 – 1.8, 6+).
Jerry Lee Radio adult contemporary WBEB "More FM" regressed by seven-tenths in April; recouped all of it – plus one tenth more – in May; but drops four-tenths in June (7.7 – 7.0 – 7.8 – 7.4, 6+). Nevertheless, "More FM" is the market pacesetter for the
12th successive monthly, although its lead over WOGL is a slim two-tenths. Following three consecutive up or flat trends (4.1 – 4.1 – 4.3 – 4.5, 6+),
CBS Radio sports outlet/
Philadelphia Phillies flagship WIP-FM flounders by six-tenths to 3.9 and exits the top ten (#9 to #11, 6+). Off by one-half share each are iHeartMedia-owned WISX "Mix 106.1" (3.2 – 2.7, #12 to #15, 6+) and public WHYY (#16 to #18, 6+), with the latter down or flat for the fifth straight time (3.7 – 3.4 – 3.4 – 3.0 – 2.6 – 2.1, 6+). Dropping again by one-tenth,
Temple University classical outlet WRTI is without an increase for the fifth successive sweep (2.8 – 2.5 – 2.5 – 1.8 – 1.7 – 1.6, 6+) yet actually moves from #21 to #20.
8)
Atlanta – Anchored at 3.1 (6+) in January and February, WFSH added three-tenths in March, nine-tenths in April, a potent
+1.1 in May, and keeps growing with a +.7 in June (3.1 – 3.4 – 4.3 – 5.4 – 6.1, 6+) as "The Fish" remains at #4. This represents the strongest 6+-showing for the
Salem Media Group contemporary Christian facility since May 2015 (6.5). Also boasting an increase of seven-tenths is
iHeartMedia-owned WUBL "94.9 The Bull Atlanta's New Country Leader," which had been secured to tenth-place since March but zooms to fifth. "The Bull" is without a decrease
for the sixth consecutive time yielding a +1.3 in that span (3.6 – 3.7 – 3.7 – 4.0 – 4.0 – 4.2 – 4.9, 6+). This is the best 6+-showing for Atlanta's "Bull" since last July's 5.3. Elsewhere in the market's country format,
Cumulus Media's WKHX (#14 to #13) recoups the four-tenths it lost in May (3.6 – 3.2 – 3.6, 6+); 3.2 was the lowest 6+-stat for "Kicks 101.5" since February 2015 (3.1). While
Cox Media Group talker WSB-AM (9.0 – 8.4, 6+) holds the top spot for the sixth straight month and urban AC sibling WALR "Kiss 104.1 Atlanta's R&B" (7.7 – 7.1, 6+) is in the runner-up slot for the fourth consecutive sweep, both are off by six-tenths. In 3.0 – 3.3 range (6+) the past five ratings periods, public WABE regresses by seven-tenths (3.0 – 2.3, 6+) and slides from #15 to #16. Without an increase for the fourth straight time (8.6 – 7.7 – 7.3 – 6.5 – 6.5, 6+), WVEE "V-103" remains in third-place but 6.5 marks the first time the
CBS Radio urban contemporary station has fallen below a seven-share since August 2014 (6.3, 6+).
9)
Long Island – Boasting its most potent 6+-share since October when it reached 3.9,
Cox Media Group-owned WBAB
"Long Island's Only Classic Rock" (3.1 – 3.8, +.7, 6+) cracks the top ten (#12 to #8). After three straight declines which produced a combined -.7 (3.7 – 3.5 – 3.1 – 3.0, 6+), CHR cluster-mate WBLI regained six-tenths in May and adds one-half share in June, progressing from eighth to fifth with its best 6+-share (4.1) since December's 4.2.
Flat at #20,
CBS Radio CHR WBMP "Amp Radio" is up or flat for the third consecutive sweep (2.2 – 2.2 – 2.4 – 2.5) and is in 2.0 – 2.9 territory (6+) for the
36th straight ratings period. On top in Long Island for the fifth successive sweep,
iHeartMedia New York City's similarly formatted WHTZ "Z-100" is also up or flat for the third straight time (5.8 – 5.8 – 5.9 – 6.1, 6+). Its lead in May over WALK-FM was just one-tenth, but the
Connoisseur Media hot AC, while remaining at #2, drops six-tenths to 5.2 (6+), matching what it registered last November; WALK-FM was -.9 in February and -3.7 in January (10.1 – 6.4 – 5.5, 6+). Following three straight stays at #1, WALK-FM dropped to second in February. It had gained one full-share in December and was +3.9 in "Holiday" 2015.
10)
Riverside – Not only does
Entravision Spanish adult hits KLYY "Jose" pull the plug on back-to-back downward trends that
produced a combined loss of four-tenths by hanging out a whopping +1.0 (6.9 – 6.8 – 6.5 – 7.5, 6+), it is #1 for the seventh consecutive ratings period. After sputtering by -1.1 in April,
Univision Radio Spanish contemporary KLVE "K-Love" eroded by another seven-tenths in May but makes up some of that combined -1.8 with a +.8 in June
(4.9 – 3.8 – 3.1 – 3.9, 6+), advancing from seventh to fifth. Prior to April 2016, the last time "K-Love" was found below the four-share level (6+) in Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario was August 2014 (3.2). Stuck on 4.9 (6+) in April and May,
Anaheim Broadcasting classic hits-oldies KOLA dials up a +.7 to 5.6, inching up from fourth to third. Jumping six-tenths each are urban-rhythmic oldies KQIE "Old School 104.7" (eighth to seventh, 6+) and
Lazer Broadcasting regional Mexican KXSB (.7 – 1.3, #13 to #11, 6+). This is the third straight gain for "Old School 104.7" (2.2 – 2.3 – 2.7 – 3.2, 6+). Advancing from third to second is
iHeartMedia rhythmic CHR KGGI, which picks up one-half share to 5.8, its strongest 6+-showing since September 2010 (also 5.8). Three straight positive trends produced a combined +1.4 for KRQB "Que Buena 96.1" (2.4 – 3.0 – 3.5 – 3.8, 6+), but the
Liberman regional Mexican relinquishes most of it with -1.0 to 2.8, skidding from sixth to eighth. Following an impressive full-share gain in May enabling it to cross the five-share threshold (6+) for the first time in its Inland Empire
PPM-history,
Univision Radio regional Mexican outlet KSCA forfeits eight-tenths (4.5 – 5.5 – 4.7, 6+) and slips from second to fourth. Off by a combined -1.4 in five straight months without an increase (4.9 – 4.8 – 4.8 – 4.2 – 3.9 – 3.5, 6+),
CBS Radio country outlet KFRG "K-Frog" falls from fifth to sixth.
11)
San Jose – Nearly matching what it did in the San Francisco report (see above),
Spanish Broadcasting System regional
Mexican KRZZ "93.3 La Raza" trots out a one-half share increase to 1.5 (6+), as it checks in at #25. In San Jose, "La Raza" had been down the past four sweeps (1.7 – 1.6 – 1.5 – 1.2. 1.0, 6+). Posting back-to-back modest gains totaling three-tenths (1.7 – 1.9 – 2.0, 6+),
iHeartMedia urban-rhythmic oldies-to-soft AC convert (as of April 13) KISQ "The Breeze" enters the top 20 (#21 to #19). After consecutive increases which yielded a combined
+1.6 (5.9 – 6.5 – 7.5, 6+),
Cumulus Media's KNBR slumped by six-tenths in May but is up one-tenth in June (6.9 – 7.0, 6+); "The Sports Leader" is #1 in San Jose for the third straight time. The -.6 in
February by KNBR curtailed three straight gains (5.1 – 5.4 – 5.6 – 6.5, 6+). In 1.0 – 1.8 territory for the 15th straight sweep, triple A sibling KFOG "The Bay Area's Original" picks up two-tenths (1.4 – 1.6, 6+) to climb from #25 to #23. On the heels of a -.5 in May,
Empire Broadcasting-owned KLIV "1590 Silicon Valley News" falters by another seven-tenths (2.4 – 1.9 – 1.2, 6+) to freefall from #21 to #26; KLIV was +.6 in April. After regressing the previous four ratings periods for a net loss of
-5.1 (8.9 – 5.8 – 5.1 – 4.7 – 3.8, 6+),
Alpha Media AC KBAY added two-tenths in May but sputters by six-tenths in June (3.8 – 4.0 – 3.4, 6+). Before falling to third-place in January, KBAY was #1 the previous
14 sweeps, but now drops from sixth to ninth. All-news KCBS-AM returns the one-half share it gained in May (4.6 – 5.1 – 4.6, 6+) and slips from third to fourth. Spiraling out of the top 20 (#16 to #23), KBLX "102.9 The Bay's R&B" also regresses by one-half share (1.6, 6+). The
Entercom urban AC had been either up or flat the previous six sweeps more than tripling its 6+-share since December (.6 – .6 – .7 – .7 – 1.5 – 2.1- 2.1, 6+).

Middlesex – The 6+-CHR share here enjoys a spike of +1.4 with
CBS Radio's WBMP "Amp" improving by eight-tenths (3.6 –
4.4, eighth to sixth 6+) and
iHeartMedia's WHTZ "Z-100" recording its sixth straight improvement in this New Jersey market (4.0 – 4.6 – 4.7 – 4.8 – 4.9 – 5.1 – 5.7, 6+) to advance from fifth to third. In addition to "Amp," iHeartMedia rhythmic CHR WKTU (#20 to #17) also posts an eight-tenths gain (2.2 – 3.0, 6+), as it reaches the three-share level (6+) for the first time since last October (3.0 as well).
Progressing by one-half share each are its classic rock cluster-mate WAXQ "Q-104.3" (6.1 – 6.6, third to second, 6+);
Cumulus Media country outlet WNSH "94.7 Nash FM" (4.0, tenth to eighth, 6+); iHeartMedia urban contemporary WWPR "Power 105.1" (#14 to #11, 6+); and CBS Radio hot AC WNEW-FM "Fresh 102.7" (2.9 – 3.4, #16 to #12+). This marks back-to-back gains of
+.5 for "Q-104.3," following a

April. Stuck on 3.6 (6+) in January and February, Nash-FM" dropped three-tenths in March; rang up a +.8 in April; and forfeited six-tenths in May (3.3 – 4.1 – 3.5, 6+). "Power 105.1" notches its fifth straight increase for a cumulative +1.3 (2.3 – 2.5 – 2.6 – 2.7 – 3.1 – 3.6, 6+). In February, WKXW "New Jersey 101.5" crossed the nine-share threshold (6+) for the first time in its
PPM-history; however, the
Townsquare Media talker drops for the fourth straight time (9.1 – 8.9 – 8.5 – 8.1 – 7.7, 6+). Even so, "New Jersey 101.5" is #1 for the sixth consecutive ratings period. Following three straight advances of two-tenths each (5.2 – 5.4 – 5.6 – 5.8, 6+), iHeartMedia adult contemporary WLTW "Lite-FM" (fourth to fifth) regresses by nine-tenths to 4.9, its weakest 6+-showing here since last July's 4.8. Just as four outlets
gain one-half share, four
decline by that same amount. They include
Emmis urban AC WBLS "Your #1 Source For R&B" (6.2 – 5.7, second to third, 6+);
SBS Spanish tropical WSKQ "Mega 97.9" (4.4 – 3.9, sixth to ninth, 6+);
Pillar of Fire contemporary Christian WAWZ "Star 99.1" (2.6 – 2.1, #17 to #19, 6+); and
Univision Radio Spanish talk WADO (.8 – .3, #27, 6+). WBLS was +.7 in May; it dropped one-tenth in April, thus halting six straight ratings periods of up or flat trends for a cumulative +1.3 (4.3 – 4.4 – 4.6 – 4.7 – 5.1 – 5.1 – 5.6, 6+). Without an increase for the
tenth successive sweep for a cumulative
-3.1 (6.7 – 5.9 – 5.9 – 5.7 – 5.3 – 5.2 – 5.1 – 4.8 – 4.4 – 3.6 – 3.6, 6+), classic hits-oldies WCBS-FM departs the top ten (#8 to #11).
