There is now a street in Manhattan called "Stan Brooks Way." The Daily News has the details about the new road, sponsored by Councilman Corey Johnson (D-Manhattan). Brooks died in December of last year at the age of 86, two weeks after he filed his last report for 1010 WINS. The street is at the corner of West 43rd St. and 10th Ave., where he lived with his wife.

The NAB Education Foundation is set to present its Corporate Leadership Award to General Motors during the 16th annual Celebration of Service to America Awards. The award is given each year to a non-broadcast business that "exemplifies an extraordinary focus on community service and corporate social responsibility."
NABEF President Marcellus Alexander said, "Through strong, ongoing support of education, health, community development, and environmental initiatives, General Motors and the General Motors Foundation have made a positive impact on American society."
The GM Foundation has granted more than $265 million in support of various nonprofits since it was founded in 1976.
GM SVP/Global Public Policy and Communications and GM Foundation Chair Selim Bingol said, "The GM Foundation is dedicated to making life better for communities across the U.S., and for the people who live there. We thank NABEF for this special recognition and promise to continue trying to make a difference in the lives of Americans."
The Celebration of Service to America Awards will be held June 17 at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC.

The Board of Directors of the TENNESSEE RADIO HALL OF FAME has chosen CUMULUS MEDIA Country WIVK/KNOXVILLE as the "Station Of The Year" for the inductee class of 2014.
The award is based on a station's historic long-term leadership in its respective market. In this case, WIVK has been the number one station in ARBITRON radio ratings for the KNOXVILLE market in every survey book since the market was first surveyed in 1970, with the exception of the APRIL/MAY 1971 ratings period, in which 990/WNOX-A (at the time a Top 40 station) was number one.
WIVK's former Owner/GM JIM DICK is also included in the 2014 Legacy category of inductees.
The organization's 3rd Annual Awards Banquet and Induction Ceremony will be held on SATURDAY MAY 3rd, 2014 at the EMBASSY SUITES HOTEL in MURFREESBORO.

Debbie Pretzello is Beasley's ?President?s Club Overall Winner? for 2012. This is the second time the Senior AE has won the award. The President?s Club consists of sales executives inducted annually for their abilities to meet or exceed individual and market goals, attain accreditation from the RAB as CRMCs, and over-deliver their clients? expectations on a daily basis. One AE in each market is named to the Club monthly, and after the year ends the individual with the highest ranking from the pool of top performers is named the ?President?s Club Overall Winner.? Congrats to KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO in Southern California for winning a local Gracie Award in the Outstanding Series category for ?Tales of the L.A. Riots,? written and produced by reporter Margaret Carrero (pictured). The 2013 Gracie winners were announced by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation.
?Tales of the L.A. Riots? looked back at the events that fueled the civil unrest that erupted in 1992, marking the 20th anniversary of one of the darkest chapters in Los Angeles history. The Gracies recognize exemplary programming created for women, by women, and about women in all facets of electronic media, as well as individuals who have made contributions to the industry. The winners will be publicly recognized at an industry luncheon on June 26 in New York.

Talk Radio Network personality Barry Farber will be honored with the Talkers Magazine Lifetime Achievement Award, on June 7 at the New Media Seminar in New York. The Barry Farber Show host will receive the award from Talkers publisher Michael Harrison.
Farber said, "I never tasted this kind of sweetness before, and I wish I could share it with the whole world, beginning with Michael Harrison and his team at Talkers Magazine and Mark Masters, my boss at Talk Radio Network."
Talk Radio Network CEO Mark Masters said, "Barry Farber is one of America?s legendary talk show hosts. He brings meaning to what otherwise would be information through the art of storytelling. Barry transports the listener to places no other medium can take them, painting memorable images with a gentle Southern accent -- he is one of a kind. Congratulations, Barry!?
Farber began his career as a talk host in 1960 on WINS/New York, and went on to shows on WOR-AM and WMCA-AM/New York, then joined ABC Radio Network and Talk Radio Network. He's also an author, whose books include Making People Talk: You Can Turn Every Conversation Into a Magic Moment and the upcoming Cocktails With Molotov: A Generation of Unlikely Detours.

September 15, 2011: Clear Channel Radio has been presented with the Fisher House Foundation's Patriot Award in recognition of CCR's ongoing support of the group, which provides temporary housing for the families of service members needing medical care. Clear Channel Radio has raised more than $1 million for Fisher House over the past two years through PSAs, remote broadcasts from Fisher House structures, interviews, and website content.
