Spotify Raises More Investor Funds

According to a CNBC report, music streaming service Spotify has been able to raise around $350 million in new funds. The report states that Goldman Sachs is one of the bigger investors and that more new investors may yet take part in the fundraising. Spotify's valuation is $8 billion, twice that of its closest rival Pandora.

Radio One Raises $1.4 Million for St Jude

Radio One and hosts Yolanda Adams, Tom Joyner, Willie Moore, Jr. and Lonnie Hunter banded together to raise $1.4 Million for St. Jude hospital during the annual Radio Cares for St. Jude Kids. President of the Radio Division, Radio One, Chris Wegmann said, "Radio One is a proud partner of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and we are particularly proud of our highly engaged and loyal listeners for responding to our call and exceeding our financial goal this year."

Alpha Raises $945K For Kids

It was the Alpha Media Louisville's 6th Annual Kosair Children?s Hospital Radiothon which took place in the lobby of the Kosair Children?s Hospital. In the past 5 years, the stations have raised over $1 million dollars for the hospital. This year?s goal was to raise over $300,000, but with huge listener and sponsor support, the total was nearly equal to that of the past 5 years combined.

Alpha Media Louisville Market Manager, Dale Schaefer commented on the announcement, ?This was a total team effort with our on-air staff appealing to the community to give, our sales team bringing in corporate sponsors, our production staff creating heart-warming vignettes and the rest of our staff helping out in so many other ways. This wonderful event has driven our team for six years and we look to do it many more in the future.?

Bobby Bones Raises $60K For St Jude's

This past Tuesday, Bobby Bones and his band The Raging Idiots played a special charity concert to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Jason Aldean crashed the show held at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, helping raise more than $60,000 for the hospital. In addition, country music singer/songwriter/guitarist Lindsay Ell performed with The Raging Idiots, and St. Jude patient Caleb served as guest announcer for the evening. During a recent interview with Bones, Aldean agreed to play a charity show with the band if they could raise $50,000 for Susan G. Komen. The program used any and all means to reach their goal ? from putting Lunchbox in a room with a snake, to offering shirtless pictures of the guys to generate donations from listeners.

WRKO Raises $115 For Fisher House

On Monday, Entercom?s WRKO hosted a radiothon from the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center that included moving stories from veterans, their families and Fisher House staff. When the event ended, over $115,000 had been raised for The Fisher House and their continued efforts to provide a safe and welcoming environment for veterans and their families as they stay in Boston to receive medical treatment. When the total was at $98,000, Entercom CEO David Field called in with a $2,000 donation to get it to the $100K mark.

Entercom Boston Vice President/Market Manager Phil Zachary said the end result is proof that talk radio isn?t just viable in 2014, it?s vital.  ?When I hear rumblings that talk radio is on the wane and then see crowds turn out and give as they did for the Fisher House Radiothon, I wonder just what the naysayers are smoking. Jeff, Barry, Bill Cooksey and the entire ?RKO team leveraged the umbilical connection they enjoy with their listeners and in just 13 hours forever changed the quality of life for Massachusetts? greatest heroes and their families.?

WOGL Radiothon Raises Nearly $700K

The WOGL-FM Loves Our Kids Radiothon raised $681,575 in two days for the Children?s Miracle Network at the Children?s Hospital of Philadelphia. In the past 13 years, WOGL has raised $6,928,760.33 for the Hospital. The radiothon, held last Thursday and Friday, was broadcast live from the Ryan Seacrest Foundation?s Seacrest Studios, located in the Colket Atrium at the Children?s Hospital of Philadelphia. WOGL hosts Ross Brittain and Valerie Knight of the Breakfast Club presented the check for $681,575 from 98.1 WOGL to the Children?s Hospital.

WOGL-FM Vice President and General Manager Jim Loftus said, ?I?m so proud to report that this was the best year yet for the 98.1 WOGL Loves Our Kids Radiothon. The $681,575 donated was an unprecedented amount.  Thanks to all who have helped make our world a better place through the commitment to the Children?s Hospital of Philadelphia. For the 13th year, we?re overwhelmed and humbled by the generosity of our 98.1 WOGL listeners and clients.?
?We are truly grateful to WOGL and the many volunteers, staff, and sponsors who have worked so hard to make this year?s event so successful,? said Steven M. WTMX Chicago Raises Over $1.4 Million

The final numbers are in and the 15th Annual Eric & Kathy Radiothon on WTMX in Chicago has raised $1,403.229.61 for the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children?s Hospital of Chicago. From 6:00 AM until 8:00 PM this past Friday Eric & Kathy (the WTMX morning show) were live from the Crown Sky Garden on the 11th floor of Lurie Children?s, airing stories of children battling critical, or even fatal conditions in hopes of helping other children in need. Since 2000 The Eric and Kathy Radiothon has now raised a total of $26 million dollars for Lurie Children?s.

WIP Raises Over $290K For Local Kids

SportsRadio 94WIP and The Philadelphia Eagles raised $100,000 more than last year's total during the 2014 Eagles Radiothon, setting a new fundraising record for the event. Proceeds benefit Eagles Youth Partnership and its various programs that serve over 50,000 low income children every year with a focus on health and education programming. The three-day auction (Sept. 2 to  Sept. 4) offered Eagles fans and 94WIP listeners the opportunity to bid on unique sports and entertainment experience prizes involving their favorite Eagles players and SportsRadio 94WIP radio personalities.
?The kindness and generosity of WIP listeners and Eagles fans never fails to astonish me,? said Senior VP/Market Manager CBS Radio Philadelphia, Marc Rayfield.  ?Every year the donations we raise during the WIP Eagles Radiothon exceeds our expectations, but this year we set an all-time record.  Radiothon is a source of pride among everybody at WIP.  By working with Eagles Youth Partnership we?re able to help children here in the Delaware Valley through important programs that improve the local community.?

Hurt Hanson's AccuRadio Raises $2.5 Million in Funding

Online radio property AccuRadio has raised a ?Series A? round of $2.5 million from L.A.-based NantWorks LLC, headed by entrepreneur Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong.  Hanson said, "We're extremely excited to work with Patrick, who is one of world's brightest and most forward-thinking entrepreneurs. Clear Channel Albany Raises $650K For Kids

810 & 103-1 WGY and 99.5 The River raised nearly $650,000 during the 16th annual Cares for Kids Radiothon. The money from the 30-hour live broadcast was raised for the Children?s Hospital at Albany Medical Center. WGY PD Josh Everett said, ?It takes a dedicated team of hospital and radio station volunteers to make the Cares for Kids Radiothon a success, but the true heroes are the children and families being helped by these efforts. Their courage and willingness to share difficult and painful experiences -- along with their victories -- is truly what compels others to give so generously.?

Clear Channel Raises $3 Million To Fight Cancer

At the end of February, during a two-day event, listeners in 31 cities, including Chattanooga, Tenn. (WUSY/Country), Waco, Texas (WACO/Country), Montgomery, Ala. (WHLW/Gospel), and Las Vegas (KWNR/Country), tuned in to pledge their support to St. Jude by making a donation of $20 per month. In all $3 million was raised for St. Judes Research Hospital during the Country Cares radio event.

Bobby Bones Show aired in 14 of markets where the event took place and said, ?Having had the chance to visit St. Jude, I got to see firsthand the incredible work they are doing. Knowing where these funds go, we can?t thank our listeners enough for their support of this great cause.?

CBS Detroit Raises $1.5 Million During Radiothon

Many hungry children in southeast Michigan will have full bellies, thanks to the 104.3 WOMC?s Radiothon, held Wednesday for Gleaners Community Food Bank. $1,522,527 was raised during the 14-hour WOMC event. In 2013, the amount raised was around $930,000. PD Tim Roberts said, ?The generosity of our listeners is truly inspiring. Children should never suffer with hunger, and we know that working with Gleaners is a fantastic way to make sure local children get the food they need to thrive.?

Radiothon Raises Over $1 Million

Children?s Medical Center announced its 2013 Christmas is for Children radiothon raised more than $1 million. The annual four-day event is supported by CBS Radio and broadcast on 98.7 KLUV and La GRANDE 107.5-FM from the Seacrest Studio located in the hospital. On-air talent from both radio stations who participated as emcees in the weekend-long radiothon included Jody Dean, Edgar ?Shoboy? Sotelo, Rebekah Black, David Rancken, Jenny Q, John Summers, Carlos, Horacio, and Ana Cruz. One hundred percent of the funds raised through Christmas is for Children remain at Children?s to support patient care and hospital programs and services.

Foundation Golf Tourney Raises $235K

Over 150 broadcasters and celebrities helped the Broadcasters Foundation of America raise $235,000 to help broadcasters in need at the 2013 Celebrity Golf Tournament on Monday at the Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, NJ. The tournament is one of the Foundation?s biggest annual fundraisers. The Foundation is expecting to grant more than $850,000 in aid over the next year.

The Broadcasters Foundation of America has distributed millions of dollars in aid to hundreds of broadcasters who lost their livelihood through a catastrophic event, debilitating disease, or unforeseen family tragedy. Individual membership is only $150 a year and can make a difference in the life of a colleague who has fallen on desperate times. Donations can be made as a personal gift to the Foundation?s Guardian Fund and corporate contributions are accepted through the Angel Initiative.

Bundy Raises 6,000 Meals for Hunger Relief

Bobby Bones co-host Amy, WSIX/The Big 98 and 1907 Apparel hosted a live concert event last week promoting 30 Abes, a special campaign and food packaging event in Nashville. The campaign aims to package 500,000 meals for the Maison Des Enfants De Dieu orphanage in Haiti. Listeners gathered to see live performances by Country artists Frankie Ballard and Laura Bell Bundy, as well as The Raging Idiots. Attendees participated in a silent auction, purchased T-shirts and made donations totaling 6,000 meals for Haiti.

"Bobby Bones Show" Raises $135K For Tornado Relief

Premiere Networks' "The Bobby Bones Show" presented the American Red Cross with a check for $135,060.71 to support the tornado relief effort in Oklahoma. The check was presented to Joel Sullivan, regional CEO for the Tennessee Volunteer Region of the Red Cross, during a reception at Bones' Nashville radio studio today.

The show reached out to friends on Music Row for help and more than 60 of Country music's biggest stars donated personal items, concert tickets, signed memorabilia, and more to be auctioned on eBay. From May 24-30, thousands of listeners and fans bid on the items to support the disaster relief effort. In addition, Broken Bow/Stoney Creek Records, Black River Entertainment, and Big Machine Label Group donated $5,000 each.

Bones said, ?We were blown away by the support from the Country music community ? from the artists and record labels to the fans. Their generosity speaks volumes and we can?t thank them enough for stepping up and contributing to this worthy cause.?

?Thanks to the generosity of our community partners like 'The Bobby Bones Show,' we were able to provide the funding for trained Red Cross caseworkers and other disaster volunteers to help and comfort Oklahomans with food, relief supplies, health services, and emotional support,? said Sullivan.

Cumulus Raises Nearly $4 Million So Far

It's not the final total and it may be difficult to know that exact number being that donations were being sent directly to the Red Cross. What we do know is that listeners to all 525 Cumulus radio stations have donated at least $3.7 million for the victims of the Oklahoma tornado. The Cumulus fundraising effort from Wednesday featured station personalities asking listeners to make donations for the survivors and families of the victims.

The United Way of Central Oklahoma has also told Cumulus that the Wednesday evening benefit concert raised approximately $6,000,000 in pledges and ticket sales.

Wednesday night, all 84 Cumulus Country stations aired a one-hour fundraising special hosted by Kix Brooks and co-hosted by KSCS/Dallas personality Hawkeye ? live from backstage at the Healing In The Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert. Between 6a-8p on Wednesday, 5/29 (the day of the radio-thon) there was a 42% increase of pledges as compared to 6a-8p on Tuesday, 5/28. There was also a 25% increase in the amount of monies donated between 6a-8p Wednesday, 5/29 compared to the same time on Tuesday, 5/28.

St. Louis Morning Show Raises $67K For Oklahoma

The Phillips and Company Morning Show on KYKY (CBS) in St. Louis played requests for donations that were given to the American Red Cross effort for Moore, Oklahoma, raising $33,670. The President of Lion?s Choice, a local fast-food chain, called in at the end of the 14-hour broadcast to match every donation, boosting the total to $67,340. Guy Phillips from the Phillips and Company show said, ?It's easy to underestimate the power of caring, but this city's generosity touches me personally every time we ask for their help. I can?t thank our listeners enough for their generosity."

Clear Channel Raises Over $1 Million For Kids

Clear Channel Communities, the community engagement brand of Clear Channel, and 106.1 KISS-FM (KBKS) in Seattle raised $1,009,271.52 for Seattle Children?s Hospital during its 12th annual ?Jackie and Bender?s One Big KISS for Seattle Children?s Hospital Radiothon.? Hospital Board Member Michele Smith said, ?It?s truly incredible that Jackie and Bender?s compassion for Seattle Children?s inspires so many to give generously and has for 12 years."

106.1 KISS FM hosts Jackie and Bender broadcasted the stories of Children?s patients, families, staff, and volunteers to listeners across the region, who responded with generous donations and helped 106.1 KISS FM reach the 2013 goal of $1 million. Throughout the two-day radiothon, fans were encouraged to donate online, via text, and in an online auction as well as by joining the KISS for Kids Club, which allows listeners to sign up to make a monthly donation. Online donations will be accepted through the weekend at www.KISSFMSEATTLE.com. Listeners can also make a $10 donation by texting the word CARE to 50555.

Univision Raises $5.3 Million for St. Jude

Univision Radio hosted its annual St. Jude Promesa y Esperanza (Promise and Hope) radio event earlier this month and the final tally from that event is in. Univision Radio listeners across the country contributed more than $5.3 million in cash and pledges to support St. Judes research and treatment of childhood cancer and other deadly diseases in the United States, Puerto Rico and around the world.

The two-day broadcast event highlighted stories of St. Jude patients and their families resulting in Univision Radio listeners across the country to become Angeles de Esperanza (Angels of Hope) by making a donation of $20 per month. Seventeen cities around the nation and its territories, including Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, Chicago, New York, and Puerto Rico, participated in more than 30 hours of programming to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude.
